Short Summary of an Interesting Article:

Many Big Sky teams are either in the middle of building, are raising funds for or just completed the building of new facilities. Montana State head coach Jeff Choate called it an arms race in recruiting.

MSU recently completed its fundraising of $18 million for its new Bobcat Athletics Complex and an academic center in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Eastern Washington’s board of trustees recently approved a $25 million fundraising strategy to renovate its football stadium.

In November 2018, UC Davis announced a $40 million project that includes a 38,000-square-foot performance center with training facilities, a sports medicine center, academic support, athletic offices and a multi-purpose practice field.

Even for Idaho, which is building the $51 million Idaho Central Credit Union Arena for basketball, Vandals head coach Paul Petrino believes even that will help in recruiting for his football team.

Southern Utah opened the over 8,000-square-foot, $1.8 million George S. Eccles Sports Performance Center used for weight training and nutrition in November 2018. Still, even with that, SUU head coach Demario Warren admitted the Thunderbirds can’t compete with the rest of the conference in facilities.

Cal Poly cut the ribbon on Doerr Family Field, a $4.8 million practice facility, in February 2018. Mustangs head coach Tim Walsh called it maybe one of the most impactful additions in the football program’s history.

Facilities do play an important role, and we're extremely far behind; but I would rather have the right people in the buildings. Perfect case is CSU with their new on-campus stadium. That was supposed to help recruiting but they're 3 years in and their program is still struggling. I say find a Joe Glenn type coach who is great with people (donors) and win games. That is who we need.
