If Smith is hurting and MBT isn't all he's cracked up to be, what's the prob with starting Carmazzi out the gate?
LOL.
LOL.

I agree about the defense. I saw a stretch were it was first team O vs. D and Hickman and Cyrus both got to Smith. However, when they put MBT in there, he was able to avoid them and scramble out and fire off a nice pass to Lane on a cut route.

He look fine to me at practice on Saturday. Actually if you were there, it was Smith and White that took the most snaps. Rumor has it that MBT is actually #3 now???
Hornet Homer said:I know we're doing a lot of talking about the QB spot. However we are in middle of the second week of practice and nobody can confirm who the signal caller at practice is. Is anybody standing out? Is anyone able watch? Who will lead us? Someone must be in the loop. Please REPORT!

#1HornetFan said:1HFan are you saying Smith has been taking the Reps? How does he look? What can we expect? If you have info., let us know. I like what THR has posted. I'm sure he's doing his best at reporting.

Sorry THR...Not knocking your reporting..Sure you thought you info was good.![]()
Yes, Smith has been taking reps and looks more confident than last year. White is also taking rep's and has improved as well. MDT has an injury to his wrist and has limited reps. I don't think it is anything major.

I have been to some practices and I will also be going to the scrimmage this Saturday. I think all of are questions will be answered by then.
Guys... We are currently plagued with injuries. There as follows:
1) Jason Smith; Back Injury. They say it's day to day regarding recovery and/or when he'll return to the field.
2) Tony Washington; WR; He could be out for a week
3) Kevin Davis; DB; no date on his return.
They're all okay, but these guys are said to be the play makers; especially Tony Washington. With that being said, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it doesn't hurt the team that much. I am truly impressed with the abilities of Elon Paige. He made a number of great plays and has wonderful chemistry with Duncan and MBT. His combination of speed and size could very well make him a threat on our offense if he shines in the games like he does in practice. On another note, Travon Jones was at the facilities today and I was told that he said he would be back on Thursday. I can't PROMISE you he will be there, but my sources said he just completed summer school and will be ready to play.
As far as The "QB competition" goes... It really is ANYONES position for the taking... Even Carmazzi (I know Super Hornet loves that...). Sperbeck lets all the quarterbacks run with the offense; including the transfer from Fresno State, Nick Chandler. In my opinion, based on what I've seen plus from my sources, I would say the placement goes as follows:
1) Duncan White (Surprisingly... Believe it.)
2) McLeod Bethel Thompson
3) Jason Smith (He could be upgraded to 2nd or starter when he returns. Sperbeck REALLY likes him)
4) Nick Chandler
5) Dom Carmazzi (He makes a considerable amount of errors, but COULD be solid)
Guys... I think we can all count on this... These next 2 scrimmages (especially the one this Saturday) will be the deciding factor of who will open up against Humboldt. On the bright side, I'm sure we can even beat them with Dom at the helm, but we definitely need to know who will lead us to the Big Sky Championship.
....Yeah, I said it. Lol...
