Fall Camp

The prospectus is out. Some interesting changes to the roster.

https://www.nmnathletics.com//pdf9/3695107.pdf?ATCLID=210247394&SPSID=39328&SPID=3468&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=8600" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Former Nebraska Corn Husker Jared Afalava is on our roster. He is a JR,LB and can play immediately.
Jalen Fields is now a WR
Spencer Unga has been moved back to LB from FB.
Justin Turner is done due to injury, but will be helping the team this season.
As of right now, a number of players from Spring have been left off the roster but are with the team. If they make it through camp they will get a roster spot.

1 Day till the beginning of Fall Camp 2015!! I know there isn't a lot of excitement for Weber State Football (this is most apparent from the lack of discussion on this forum, as well as the lack of marketing from our athletics department), but I think we have a lot to be excited about. I will do my best to keep a tab on all the stories coming out from the local media (if anyone finds something, please post on this thread) about our team this August in preparation for the season.

To start things off, an article from athletics that has a schedule attached: http://www.weberstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=8600&ATCLID=210247394" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

We Are Weber!

Are you ready for some football???? Buckle up campers, It all starts tomorrow! I am cautiously optimistic about this years team. We have a very favorable home schedule BUT a BRUTAL road schedule again. Also why is it that the last time we had 6 home games was clear back in 2008? That"s damn stupid. Anywho, looking for big things this year and steady improvement program wide. Hopefully with 5 QB's on the roster the Coaches can at least find 1 who makes good decisions and throws it to the correct team. :twocents:

WE ARE THE WILDCATS, SCRATCHING, SNARLING

WE'RE GONNA WIN THIS GAME.

UPWARD AND ONWARD FIGHTING WILDCATS,

WITH PRIDE AND HONOR, ON TO FAME.

AND WE'LL NEVER QUIT TILL WE HAVE WON,

SO PURPLE AND WHITE WILL REIGN, CAUSE

WE WILL GROWL, AND SNARL, AND SHOW HOW

WE RATE; FOR WE ARE....

WEBER STATE, WEBER STATE, GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!

WEBER STATE, WEBER STATE, GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!

WEBER STATE, WEBER STATE, GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!

QB is key. Again.

So, as of right now, there are 5 on the roster. Three have game experience for the Wildcats, one is a JUCO transfer, who started the season for his team, but didn't end up there, and a true freshman from Plain City. During Spring Ball, Jadrian seemed like the starter, but in the Purple and White, all of the QBs saw action. It just didn't seem like Jay was convinced that any were starting material. One thing for sure happened because of Spring Ball, we cut loose a couple of ineffective QBs. I really thought that Riley Bradshaw would end up being a candidate to lead the team. Guess not. :?

So, I think the depth chart is:

Jadrian
Billy
Chad
Kelly
Justin?

Here's to a POSITIVE Fall Camp! Wildcats will obviously have to earn any respect this 2015 season. Lindy's Sports College Football 2015, one of just a few that mentions anything on FCS, picks Weber State at 12 in BSC (ahead of last place UNC) with the Tony Moss short quote "Wildcats are 6-29 since John L. Smith left program at alter, need more talent".

With dedicated HC Jay Hill & Staff optimistic for improvement, the outlook is certainly POSITIVE!!
2015 Season can't come soon enough & starts off with a BANG @ Oregon St (with new HC Gary Anderson) & then @ the defending champs North Dakota State (their 1st home game after playing Montana in a nationally televised ESPN game).

May the 'SKY clear & may there be sunshine on the Wildcats this year!!!!

Football at Weber State, and the greater Ogden area, is a sleeping giant that needs to be awoken. It has started to happen a couple of times over the past 30 years, but hasn't quite got that second foot out of bed. Our community has grown and the backing could be there when it gets going. We just need consistent coaching and continued investment for it to happen. Once we throw the covers off and get up on our two feet, it could become an unstoppable thing.

I'm pulling for us to do it.

I am hoping Hill comes out at the end of fall camp, or sooner, and tells us who is the starter will be and that he has 100% confidence that he will get the job done. Wavering between different quarterbacks from game to game could be costly.

I feel like Jadrian is the better mobile QB and Billy is the better pocket passer. I think it's gonna depend on our o-line who does better this year

Losing McKay Murphy is not good.

Exactly! No idea that Murphy blew out his ACL this spring. I saw him a few weeks ago and he was moving pretty good on it. So, I'm guessing they are having him sit the year as a precaution. Not a bad plan. I'm sure he will get a medical red shirt. Yet, we definitely can't afford a lot of injuries to the DL. Definitely better this year than two years or last year though. More personnel are available to step up. Weber has Rayshawn Henderson and Likio Pope, who both can step in and play at a high level.
