I'm pumped for football! THIS IS THE YEAR THAT OUR BELOVED BEARS RETURN TO THEIR WINNING WAYS. THE COACHING STAFF HAS WORKED HARD IN TURNING AROUND THE TALENT. WE ARE UNC AND WE WIN. THAT'S WHO WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I hope the players are half as pumped as you are! Maybe you can head over give them a pep talk?

The best thing we can do for this team is give them our support. I believe if we can get the stadium filled on Saturdays that will go a long way to pump up this team. As was said before, the talent is there now they just need to know how to hold onto the lead and how to put a team away and win.

I'm excited for the year to start, see what the new O scheme looks like, as well the QB battle thats gonna be going on. I agree I think the talent is there, its just matter of using that talent to the fullest and in the correct way. Definitely going to make the home opener against Adams St. on the 4th.

I am so with all you guys. I have not been this excited about our team for years. Nothing would feel better than having a winning season and pulling an upset and whoopin the Griz!!

I was out there yesterday watching practice for just a bit but I did notice a few things - The team is freaking huge! Everyone seemed like they hit the weight room big time since spring. As far as the QB race, I couldn't tell which one had the upper hand. I like Labota's size and Deen's but I doubt they'll make a push for the starting job. Baca looked okay. I didn't stay for too long but that's my take. They're bigger this year, much bigger.

Thanks for the update Bd, keep em coming. I like the detail in your comments.

c'mon people! i need an update! been out of the area for a few days,so......... whats new? has orms dressed yet? how are baca and deen doing? give me something, please! go look at the other big sky blogs, lots of info, but, not our page.

one thing we need to improve for sure is home attendence. our average was 3,500 last year, worst in the sky. we REALLY need to improve this stat starting right now! this, and more info like this is available on the big sky conference website. go to the media guide and enjoy the reading. hopefully, by next years guide, will have more bears to talk about! fight on unc! and lets bring out the fans this year!

I also would like to hear more about what is going on with the team during this pre-season schedule. For all of us out of the area, we need those of you in Greeley to keep us informed on what is going on. There must be some of you local guys that get over to the practice site to see what's up. It looks like we are all excited about the start of the season and this year could be the year of the Bear. (not the ugly bear)

Thankfully we have the Trib! Some of their articles are good, but Shuman is writing some good articles about some of the positions. Today they had a nice write up on the wide-receivers. We're deep at that position. Doug Steele is going to be a stud at TE in the passing game. He's huge, about 6-5, 240 and gets open in deep patterns.

There is also an article at the unco.edu football website. Interview with Sr. lineman Tim McGraw. Thought it was ok, the interview questions could have been better.

i agree with bear down, the trib is actually doing a very good job! thanks shuman! you are the man for good info!
take a look at the rooster. its been updated from just a few weeks ago. alot of guys have got alot bigger! here's some funny updates on the top 3 qb's. orms is 10lbs heavier, baca has shrunk an inch and gained 5lbs, and deen in 15lbs heavier! thats a great sign fo sure, good job to the strength and condition guys over at unc!

I was out there yesterday. Man, the receivers need better hands! Lots of dropped passes. One of them was from a bomb by Deen, just a perfect pass right into the receivers hands (can't remember who it was) but was dropped. That happened several times yesterday. Orms is taking snaps but he is being held out of contact drills. This is going to hurt him because when you're in a QB battle, taking snaps in practice is going to be your best friend. The athletic website has been running a series of question/answer with some of the players and one of the questions Heather has been asking all of them is what do they think about the new facilities and all of them pretty much say the same thing. The best they've ever been into. Most of the players have been in WAC and Big Ten facilities and we're getting better praise than them. I can't wait to see the facilities on the 25th. Also, the Trib has a nice write about the offensive line today. I'm a little more confident in them now. They've all bulked up big time. They will be the key to our success this year. We know the defense will be solid, but so many ?? surround the offense.

I like what I hear about the new offensive system, pound the ball between the tackles, no more of this spread crap. That alone has me smiling. :D

I like the size of our O-Line. It's crazy how much of a difference this coaching change has made for that position. From the article is made it sound like Darnell had no idea what he was doing.

To say the least, let's run the spread just because it's the fad even though we are struggleing to get talent to compete at this level... frustrating..............

I was at practice tonight, and man the offense looked good. In spring ball there was a practice that it seemed to "click" for the offense. I got that same feeling watching practice tonight. The way all the qb's were stepping up in the pocket, trusting the protection and delivering downfield was amazing. The RB's are running hard and the oline is really opening up some big holes.
The defense has played lights out all camp, and they will be fighting for the best D in the Big Sky. But I am really excited about the offense.
We have incedible playmakers at Wide Out in Patrick Walker, Dom Gunn, Denzel Hutchings, Jace Davis and Matt McDonnell. Some great recieving TE's in Sam Sewell and Doug Steel, and great RB's in Andre Harris and Jahmel Robinson. We have a fight at QB between Orms, Baca and Deen, and that is a very good thing, they are pushing each other.
I have cmplete faith in our O-line. All have starts under their belts. You will not find a smarter o-lineman than Tim Mcraw in the Big Sky, and you will not find a more physical right side (Shapiro and Barbiaz) in the Big Sky. Amal Gumbs is doing very well at left guard and Nick Candler is a huge athletic left tackle.
I don't think that peope realize that we have a team that is not only capable of winning the Big Sky but getting deep into the playoffs as well. We are the wildcard in the Big Sky, and no team on our schedule will feel confident playing us.
I have always been a Downing fan, and even though the W/L column doesn't look great, real football fans and people who know the game can see that the team has grown in leaps and bounds since he took over. Those who have said he needed to be fired need to hear something. There was a coach that had 16 seasons (many of them losing seasons) before he won his first championship. That coach was John Wooden. What Downing and Heinrichs have done from coming fom D II to FCS, has been incredible. This season will have a lot of people eating their words and their will be apologies owed.
