Turns out you need to score points to win. The fact we couldn't score from the 1 is a friable offense. Walk back from SD, because 17 points of offense isn't going to do anything. The Defense is being let out to dry with his crap, boring offense
Pure.
Trash.
Coach.
They got the win last night. That is all that matters. But yes, the offense is not impressive and Gibson's throwing is limited. He obviously struggles reading the field if you have two pick sixes and live by the check down throws. Anyone could chunk the ball to Cheeks and he will catch it. But Gibson is more in line with Lamb's offense. Chatting this week with a friend who has a son that is a backup receiver, many of the players can not figure out why Box isn't getting a shot since he has the best arm on the team and is well liked by the receiving room. But that would require Lamb to adjust his offense more towards Box's strength. Which would be more passing and he doesn't appear to want to do that. And both years have been horrific on offense. Lamb has a legit Defense, but that doesn't do much if we can't score more than 20 points. We've had massive success when we start to open it up after establishing the run. We've seen in the two games that we can move the ball down the field and fast when we go to the air with medium passes.
Also going for a power run offense and not being able to get a TD with several times from the goal line should tell you all we need to know about how the power run scheme is working for us.
