Pretty neat that we are the game of the week for the first week of the year.

I hope UC Davis wins big in their first game and comes in ranked in week 2. Hopefully we can start conference play with two wins over ranked teams.

2007 FCS Game of the Week Survey Final Results


College Sporting News





We are proud to announce the results of our 2007 FCS Game of the Week Survey. We began the survey by taking nominations from visitors to the College Sporting News website, and we asked all the schools / conferences / messageboards / fan websites to pass the word around so that we could get a well-rounded collection of games. After much fact-checking and verification we finalized the list of candidates and began the official voting. The voting ended on May 25.

The winning Game of the Year is "The Brawl of the Wild" featuring Montana at Montana State. This matchup was also selected as the 2003 and 2004 Game of the Year in our survey those years.

The 12 winning games were split between nine conference and three out of conference games featuring teams from six conferences. 18 teams in total were represented. Four teams from each of the Gateway Football, Great West Football and Southern Conferences were chosen, three from the Big Sky Conference, two from the Colonial Athletic Association and one from the Southland Conference.

Five teams were selected more than once. Appalachian State appears in three games and Cal Poly, Illinois State, North Dakota State and Northern Iowa appear twice.

Of note:
• Each of the Southern Conference games feature Appalachian State
• Both of the Great West games feature Cal Poly
• Both of the Gateway games feature different teams
• Two of the out of conference games feature different teams from the Gateway and Great West and the remaining out of conference game features the only appearances by a Big Sky and Southland team
• The top five Games of the Year feature different teams, each a conference game

Tens of thousands of verified, individual votes were cast on the website and the results are now final.
