I'm looking at Sac up 27-0. From what I've heard, the defense is looking pretty good, and I don't believe that Sperbeck is one of those run-up-the score coaches like Nebraska and Oklahoma used to have. I think he'll sub early and often, which will be a good idea. I don't want to see the starters get hurt in a key contest late in the season only to have to play subs that have no game experience.
The Aggie's prediction isn't too far off and fits my assessment as well. A meaningless FG doesn't take much away from an otherwise good defense.

I'd love to see a score more along the lines of AggieFinn's prediction; however, I'm not quite as optimistic for this first game.

A fond memory to share from when HSU visited Sac in 2002... I was a reservist in the Army Ntnl Guard at the time, and we did a flyby over the stadium in a UH-60 Blackhawk for what I believe was Senior Day. After the pass, we circled back around and landed in the field just NW of the stadium for a static display. During the game, our crew was invited up to the deck above west side bleachers where we enjoyed the spread of food, received one of the Hornet bobbleheads given away that day, and met the new AD, Terry Wanless. I remember him commenting on Amey after he made a good play that he was glad that Sac had him for another 3 years. Oh how right he was.

I hope that we have a solid game and have the opportunity to take a look at a lot of players in game conditions. I also hope that we don't overlook Humboldt the way Davis did last year against a weak Western Washington team and that we come out of the game injury free. I am really looking forward to finally having a winning season this year!

I hope that the Hornet Offense finds their confidence and manages teh game well on the field. If the O can get it together with the help of this game, then it could be a great year. There will be some bad plays, but I hope Big Sac puts it together.
btw: It is only Humboldt State, but this game is the best ticket in Sacramento for football this weekend, I hope every local comes out to see y'all play!
(I do see that Michigan State is coming to Cal, but it's at 5 pm so there should be enough time to get home and check that game out after CSUS stomps the Jacks)

Freshmen are moving into the dorms Saturday morning and I believe the start time was altered for this particular week in an effort to increase on-campus student attendance and welcome them to CSUS.
