Five reasons why the Bears will/won't finish .500

Definitely not getting my hopes up this season. I have a feeling that if will be another 1 win season, and more frustration.

Reason why, the same reasons every season. No running game. O-Line always struggles, which seems to be the theme every season, why hasn't this ever been addressed. Defense gets gashed game in and game out.

I agree, and it simply amazes me that we can never get a good consistent offensive line. Look at NDSU and it's the key to their success.

Anyone make it out to watch the 7 vs 7 this evening? Western St being there was sort of a waste, some good competition between CSU-P and UNC though. Each side had some nice plays and it was good to see it be competitive but not cross any lines as far as trash talk or anything beyond as can sometimes happen.

Best of luck this coming season!

How did our secondary look? That was a huge problem last season. We had several blown coverages against you guys.

Not too bad, no noticeable blown coverages from UNC that I saw. They just didn't have anyone that could cover the #1 CSU-P receiver. Not even sure who from UNC was there however, was a good turn out from them though so it looks like they are certainly dedicated to improving this season.

Have highlights from it, but only of CSU-P. You can at least see the turnout and which guys were out there for UNC if you'd like - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrYXeoyBtrU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Our freshmen DBs (who have never played a college down yet) were the only ones scored on. No one scored when UNC starters were in.

Is Chris Glover in town working out with the team?

That's funny because from what I heard from the UNC players they totally dominated the night.

But let's be serious, it doesn't really mean much of anything either way. 7's tell you nothing about how good a team is really going to be and it tells you even less about how teams will or would play head-to-head in a real game. They are a fun and exciting passing drill but nothing more. Put the pads on and get the big guys going at it in the trenches and then maybe there is something to talk about. Until then, who had more TDs in a 7on7 competition is even less important than who wins an NFL season preseason game.

This same exact thing happened last summer after CSU-P went to CSU for 7 on 7 and didn't get dominated the way many thought they would. Fans made excuses, stating that only backups got scored on, or that the CSU players didn't care, whatever it may be. That is why I am glad that CSU-P and UNC got to settle it on the field last year.

If the UNC players honestly think they dominated at 7 on 7 however, they are in for another long season. I hope that is not the case, except that I think a coaching change (beyond only the HC) is needed there to get the program to where it should be and a bad season is the only way that will happen.

5 Reasons why the Bears won’t win more than 5 games this year:

1) Strength and Conditioning: one word "Dinky". Dinky Williams is one of the worst strength and conditioning coaches in the nation. Have you seen or heard from players or past players in what their summer conditioning entails? It entails running up and down a hill 50 times or running diagonally across the field 10 times. Where is the agility, side to side movement drills or even just speed development drills? There is no knowledge and structure to their strength and condition program.

2) Coaching: This coaching staff is young and inexperienced. While there was hope with some good coaches such as: Chris Smith, James Jones, Jon Carpenter but oddly enough they all abandoned ship and went elsewhere. The current coaching staff is just too young and inexperienced. You get more of show from watching them get more excited about a 5 yard gain than the players.

3) Offensive Line: Don’t get me wrong we have some great talent on the o-line and they will probably be our bright spot when they can actually get a coach to help them. A good offensive line is in sync and all have great footwork and fire off the ball. When is the last time you saw a decent oline at UNC? Probably the 2010 year when Bedell was here, a direct reflection of coaching.

4) Quarterback: Everyone who reads this board or has anything to do with UNC football knows the starter should be Sean Rubalcaba. He is a terrific talent that is quick on feet, throws a good ball and has respect and leadership capabilities. BUT Coach Collins has made an awful decision before in starting Seth Labato over Dylan Orms his senior and I honestly wouldn’t put it past him to start someone new or in the same shoes as Seth. "cough cough" Brock Berglund. <---- Bad Mistake if he does.

5) The Head Coach: I could sit here and list a hundred reasons why Coach Collins shouldn’t have been hired (but was) a hundred reasons why he is a young coach over his head and a MILLION reasons why he just isn’t head coach material. If anyone can remember when they went to a game at UNC and didn’t hear Collins screaming at the top of lungs during one point of the game, I want to know. This is a man who preaches trust and hard work but yet has no respect from any of his players. Anyone want to take a guess why? He is flat out untrustworthy. I’ve never heard a head coach throw his players under the table more than this guy. I have never heard a head coach scream and yell and jump around more than this guy. I have never seen a team more deflated and defeated before the first kickoff all because of this guy...

PS: his pregame speeches are awful.

BearDude out.

Earnest Collins, Jr.
Current position : Title Head coach
Team: Northern Colorado
Conference: Big Sky
Record: 6–28
HEAD COACHING RECORD: Overall 14–40
Beardude,
Its funny how you can say I'm one of the worst strength coaches in the nation when you know absolutely nothing about me. When it comes to speed and agility "My" off season program is full of speed and agility. With skilled positions running faster than they have ever ran since I've been here there has to be something changing. Why dont you check my resume before making such bold statements as I'm the worst in the nation. As you can see I won't hide behind a screen name. Come check me out when ever you have time. You know where I work. I have 100% faith in Coach Collins and will continue to do all I can to Restore the Roar!! Go Bears!!

Well this is nothing short of epic.

Welcome to the board coach Williams and I guess this proves that players/coaches do pay attention (if only in passing) to the mood of fans on the message board.

Welcome to the board Dink! Really appreciate you jumping in and defending your strength program and the coaches. There is nothing that any of us want more than to see the team and coaches Restore the Roar!

Go Bears!

Good for Dink to defend himself. It shows to me he gives a hoot about what he is doing ! All this crap comes from losing. Turn this thing around (NOW) ! Bring the ROAR !

Bear Dude,
Who are you? I mean what's your name. Put it out there for all to know. I put my name out there because I believe in what we are doing as a coaching staff. I also know that there are people on this site hiding behind those screen names. Lets all get from behind the vail of secrecy and show who you really are. Its easy to sit back and throw stones. I understand everyone is tired of the losing but if you think for one second they we as a coaching staff aren't , then your sadly mistaking. I'll stand behind everything I state on this site, in person, on a phone call, Facebook, twitter etc. Let's take off the gloves because I'm ready to defend everything I stand for with this program 100℅. Who's with me? I'll wait. You all know who I am and you're more than welcomed to stop by to witness the training up close and personal. I've been doing this for 16 years and have personally trained some of the NFL's elite athletes. Manny Ramariz, Louis Vasquez, and Wes Weller just to name a few. I just want to make sure that everyone that's in the boat is rowing in the same direction and not drilling holes behind our backs. RESTORE THE ROAR!!!!!! GO BEARS!!!!
