Friday the 13th! - USU Aggies

There should actually be a decent student section there. The Institute is pushing this game and having a tailgate before it. (Surprise right?). We'll see how loud or how much they cheer though... I just hope we can keep Aggies out of it but you let anyone in for free and that's what happens.

If memory serves, "Institute Night" last year helped with a pretty good draw for the student section. Hopefully this year will be as successful. Despite what BYU thinks, Weber is God's team.

I just picked up some tickets. They hadn't released my season tickets yet. I guess they are still holding out for me. There are 10 homes that I would like to attend. If I just by individual tickets in the same area I save several hundred dollars.

I'll be there with two others. At the exhibition game I saw my recently vacated season tix seats fully occupied. Assuming someone has picked them up, I hope they enjoy the season. Not that it was unexpected but I continue to find it surprising that WSU never called, asking me to renew tix I've held for so many seasons.

Maybe they have a wrong number? They called me the last two years to renew...

Maybe so but the alumni association has my 20+ year old number as they call several times a year to solicit donations. Not a big deal anyway, the decision was already made to not renew.

SW; I understand your frustration with scheduling and the BSCs post season crap. What I don't understand is why you and some of the other, like minded, posters on this forum have not marched into the ADs office and volunteered to help with the scheduling efforts, work on a committee or have input in some other way. Seems to me like you are trying to punish the system, while doing nothing to correct it. You are putting the child in timeout without telling him why or pointing out what the correct behavior would be.

Just saying..... :twocents:

SW...we all know Weber's motto is, "We do just enough." It is sad, but it is true. Look at the new basketball signs on campus. Once again...when are the games, times, etc etc etc. I did see one sign that said there was a game on Friday against USU, but one out of the way, SMALL, sign doesn't do much good. I don't fully blame athletics. WSUSA, SAA, and SAAC haven't done anything to promote the game either. You are only as good as your leadership.

Olds I don't know why you keep insinuating that we haven't let the university know of our concerns. Do you honestly think they would let any of us actively help. The only help they want is for us to open our wallets. Jerry Bovee voted against our entire community. He knows why he is in timeout with local businesses. He voted against our hotels and restaurants. The same businesses that have supported athletics for years. So what if he was the only dissenting vote at least we would have known that he is a man of his word.

I think Bovee is getting the message loud and clear, and not because we are "marching into the ADs office." Just listen to the last two Ask the AD episodes. Both times he has been asked about the schedule and both times he has said he knows the fans are not at all happy about it. And this last episode he addressed not voting against the tournament move. Sometimes the best way to be heard is by letting your wallet do the talking.

Holy Cow! or bull as the case may be, they are spewing a lot of hate up there in Aggieville. I hope, for Tim's sake, that he is the last to jump ship. :yikes:

Also, I hope that the young man lands on his feet, no matter where he lands. He is a great player and a good person. I don't know anything about his status, but I am sure it will all come out in the next few weeks. :thumb:

I'm just customer (and fan) who has taken several opportunities to inform both WSU and the BSC of my opinion of various issues regarding their product, and asked them to reconsider a few things along the way. So you're saying I should volunteer my time (which is valuable to me) and help them (a 25K institution) make their product more worthy of spending more of my $$ on, if (and that's a big IF) the avenue even exists to have input or assist with scheduling efforts? I don't even know what to say about that suggestion but I think I'll stick to letting my reduced financial support express my dissatisfaction with a few widely popular decisions. It seems there are a few persons, if not departments, "earning" salaries who should probably be taking care of these things, not volunteers or committees. IMO, any volunteers or committees should mainly consist of students. I don't believe for a second WSU or the BSC will miss me as season tix customer or tournament supporter, though, since it seems my tix have been picked up, I suspect attendance will remain about average, and I've never received a single acknowledgement of any of my concerns or aggravations.

As for Friday the 13th and the Aggies, my boy knows about the game and will be there because he is a fan and has an interest in all aspects of his school, however, aside from Facebook posts he says there is very little around campus or the community to let the casual fan or potential fan know an in-state game is occurring, when, what it will cost (or not cost) to attend, and why they cannot miss this event! Despite what Rahe may feel, I see this as one of the "must win" games of the season. Weber loses much more than just the game when they lose to USU, and especially at the DEC. I don't really know what to expect from the blue bulls and really don't have a feel for how talented Weber is/will be this year; I'm cautiously optimistic after last year and gauging the P-n-W and exhibition games. They need to redeem the 2nd half meltdown in Cache Valley last year. I am excited for this one, hoping to not be disappointed. GO WEBER!

I hear people complaining on here all the time about lack of student involvement at football and basketball games. As a student I can tell you exactly why there isn't much student participation. Almost no one gives a shit.

There is a large population of students that are against athletics in general because they feel it's taking away money from other departments on campus. There is another large population of students on campus that treat Weber State as nothing more than a community college. They go to classes and then leave and don't care at all about anything else going on on campus.

Yes there are plenty of students, like myself, that do enjoy going to the different games happening on campus. But we are a minority, and no amount of marketing on campus is going to change that fact any time soon.

Can't take much credit for it. Athletics put it on YouTube today and since I subscribe to their YouTube Channel I got an email with it attached. Makes you wonder what else they have stored away in the vault.

Yep-- Jimmy D for 3, and dagger 3 at that-- easily a top 5 WSU play and memory for me. I've commented on this before and someone found me (other) video for this a while back. This video is much better quality. My wife and I watched this game in our living room with my oldest boy (currently a WSU JR) in a bassinet, asleep on the floor. If memory serves, Weber was down 20 at the half. When DeGraffenried hit that shot, both my wife and I about went through the roof yelling, startling the crap out of my boy who also began screaming! Good times!
