Gameday Thread Eastern 35 vs Montana State & Refs 38

Woke up this morning and remembered something of what Best said about GT being the starter after the second scrimmage... He said, "We don't expect Gunner to be EB3, we just want him to be the best version of himself"

Why aren't they coaching the rest of the team the same way? They look the part physically but not between the ears. If I was reading a crystal ball, it looks like players are waiting to be told what to do. This is a failure of leadership. When the general has to give all the orders, armies lose battles, leaders on the field of battle don't develop, adjustments aren't made fast enough, soldiers are out of place and the enemy strikes where the opponent is weakest. Listened to the Coaches show last night and nothing changed my mind. If anything, Best sounded lost. How many of us, facing something new double down on what isn't working? I've been guilty and have lived through far to many of these scenarios in my career when leadership loses their way and instigates detrimental policies and removes focus from the objective to something they think they can control. This never works.

Harumpph.

EWU; Wasn't sure how solid the Tenn. ST. win was but thought TS has some really good players that made plays and despite only scoring 3 pts. vs Jackson St.. Jackson St. scored 125 pts in their other 2 games and only 16 against Tenn. St.. But Middle TN killed them last week. Turns out perhaps we should have done much better vs TN ST. We could have easily lost that one but held up. Oregon game was wrong place wrong time game. I believed they wouldn't hang so many pts. against us. Last time we gave up more than 70 pts was 1990 vs #10 Houston (84). That year we went 5-6 and 3-5 league with Dick Zornes(in his 14th season) as coach.

MSU; I bet MSU until I read they were down to one healthy RB then I came back with an Oregon St. wager. I believed they could hang with their vaulted defense until end of 3rd and 4th qtrs. but that didn't happen. They did manage to score 28 pts. on OSU with a wounded offense. They will be fired up coming into Cheney because there's a whole lot on the line for trajectory on the outcome for both teams seasons.

Summary; Feels to me EWU is sorting out what the drastic coaching turnover and new faces of the players are fitting into a what kind of team we are. Last year was a special team that had all the makings of one of the best ever I thought. To go from there to here was the challenge, Losing the guts of our coaching staff and guts of our skill players and star defenders has had a big impact on the toughest schedule maybe ever. Both teams will be up for a monumental game and expect big crowd (MSU travel so well) to be boisterous and gladiators will psyched to the max. Should be a fun one.

Not that there should be any changes to the two deep but after a total ass whopping one could surmise there'd be at least one...oh well onward and upward and as each hour progresses toward the date and time my excitement grows. Many an EWU alum that aren't regulars at games have parked their yacht's, race cars, come back early from Monaco and the South of France to make this game. Bringing their friends and family to enjoy this game that will be heard around the world!

Does history mean anything here? MSU won last year with Vigen. That was a game changer in my mind. Will see what he and his staff can do with all the injuries and off season changes.

In a battle of nationally ranked teams, EWU looks to
get back on the winning track after claiming 14 of

The back judge is an idiot...

didn't predict a barn burner. not sure why the lb's and corners aren't very good at giving potential blockers the 'ole maneuver. it's a pretty common technique and if the defenders grabs them as they move past them, it's a readily apparent penalty....

DL attacked that last possession except the one play that was stopped for no gain off tackle. Previous possessions they were tending the line of scrimmage. Glad to see the adjustment.
