Gameday Thread EWU 16 @ Idaho 48

It's becoming clear. This is the punishment for being so good for soooo long.
The Blood Eagle.

Goodness... Did they put in a new playbook this week? OL looks confused. Abandoning the run is a bad idea IMO. I'd run only the plays that Eag's have proven they can execute.

Saw a couple of the younger LB's out there today too. They can really run.. 56 and 58. May have missed other players who've seen some time.

Can't see how Hatten keeps getting open. Must be making a move. I actually like stopping the run and manning up on the WR's . It could be better I suppose.

5 drives of 3 plays or less in a row. Avg 40 sec of possession. 1 TD. This and special teams coverage ain't helping the defense either...

I’d like to see us show some backbone in the second half. This team looks like they’ve completely quit. The OL is worse than I’ve ever seen. And the defense is just a total failure. I am mystified by how we can play bad one week, and then play even worse the next.

This absolutely could not get any worse.

Yes it could, I could have wasted a Saturday driving to Moscow. Actually it could get even worse in the 2nd half. This is not Portland State. Maybe Eck will show some mercy when they hit 70

I think Eck has his players behaving as it is. Know they didn't forget last year and it shows. It's going to be on Eastern to possess the ball, run some clock and get a stop or two to keep this out of the hyper score zone.. If they don't, 70 is a very real possibility.

I'm mystified Dopa. The D has been flying around. The 1:1 coverage has been horrific but it's sort of what we both called for last week. This one is squarely on the O. 5 possessions for about 4 minutes isn't giving the D much of a brake. OL looks absolutely lost and many of the plays called look "new". Those 4th down plays resemble the shitty 4th down plays from last year, at least in execution. I guess we can chalk this up as "all bad" at this point.

Back to GT... every defense moves towards the line knowing the ball will rarely go more than 25 yards up field.. 3 and out..

edit: another 35 yard pass results in TD...

Well coached teams improve as the season goes along, others not so much. Is it a fair expectation that a team plays better as a whole than the sum of the parts? It appears to me we do have some good athletes and skill players. Is 1 conference win a fair expectation for the players we have?

Trying to watch rerun...not sure how long I can stand it...I'm not that strong. Hatten just scored again for Vandals he's really good (at not getting called for off. pass interference).
Didn't catch the very end yesterday (my eyes somehow got all watery) and saw Kekoa Visperas got in. Let him play the whole last game...for the the good of the team for next year.
