Gameday Thread UNC @ HBU

Unless Newsome is injured, I don't see why you go to Knipp here. I actually thought Knipp would have been a good choice for the starter initially, but that's besides the point. Once someone earns the QB job he shouldn't have to look over his shoulder right away...especially with how well Newsome played last week. He earned the job in camp, and played well last week. Just another coaching blunder by good ol Earnie.

I can see both sides. Lots of teams use two QB's.

I find it funny that unc couldn't keep Czapenski on roster he hadn't missed in 8 games. Combs can't make a field goal but is a stud at kickoffs yet Collins elects to put Fallon in who can't kick off and he kicks it 20 yards. Collins needs to know his players, keep Combs In for kickoffs and well honestly he is screwed as far as field goals go unless Keefer glau can kick them

Like who? Poor teams, yes. Successful teams stick with one guy. Ohio State is an exception right now, as they have two future pros on their roster and Urban is sorting it out. I can kind of see it since it's early and non-conference, but if that's the case he should have said the competition was alive going into the season. THAT IS common. A lot of teams start the year by alternating QB's when the job isn't settled. Very few teams use more than one QB, as you suggest (unless it's a wildcat scenario).

Listening in bed so I won't be posting. Hopefully the defense can continue their good work and UNC can close this out. Refreshing and nice to see after last week. Come on you Bears!

We're winning by this much on the road? Someone tell me what to do!

I like how we played the 2nd half. Again, it's never good to leave points on the board. Lots of improvement to be had. We play a SUU next week that is much better than the both teams we have played so far.

I'm happy they won and I admitted I was wrong. But come on is any lead safe with UNC? I've seen them lose every way possible, hail mary's, fumble on the goal line, pick six to end the game, etc.

If they don't want to be doubted it's on them to prove they can consistently close out games. They did it last night and good for them but before I start planning that victory parade I want to see them win a couple conference games.

I felt like calling out the participants to this blog who consistently put a negative spin to their comments, then I realized that I would be doing the same negative thing.
That said,
1. Great road win by the Bears.
2. Freshman kicker Marcus Combs had a humbling night, compared to his game last week. I know he will improve. This kid was all-state as a DB in HS!
3. O Line and running backs had the running game looking good.
4. Great to see walk-on Bloyer get his first pick. Great young man.
5. Good call by Coach Boyer to play Knipp at QB and Sloter at WR. I predict that Newsome will come back fighting.
6. LBs Isenburg, Newsome, Stansbury and Riddle are making great plays.
7. DBs are looking better every game, they have to because they face a talented group of WRs in practice.
8. Hats off to the players, coaches, supporting staff, families and fans.
There are a lot more comments I could make, but it's time to start thinking and preparing for Southern Utah.
Go Bears.

Nice post.

This weekend is really big for the Bears since it's one of the few conference games where we have a legitimate opportunity to win. Lets hope it all comes together again.
