Great Season

Honestly, I don't feel disappointed in the loss today. We had had our chances and could've won, sure. But this team is so young, and only getting better with these outstanding recruiting classes, that I can't help but just be excited knowing that next year is going to be even better. Kind of like how the Seahawks finished 2012.

As for BF... wow. :dunce:

Know that you say that, I had that same feeling yesterday, unexpectedly good season. I didn't expect us to make the semi's pre-season, I knew we had lost a lot of seniors going into this year, but our receiving core was as good as ever. Vernon had a record breaking season (will we have a 12 game season again next year to give this years numbers a run?), the games were well attended, and to start off the season we beat Oregon State, which I remember thinking as I fell asleep that night that winning the championship wouldn't matter after that.

Way to go team, and great job seniors, what a legacy you have built!

Good post, except I would trade any single win this year for another Championship. I'm willing to bet that, to a man, the players and coaches would too.

How many times will EWU keep themselves out of Frisco? Its becoming really frustrating. Vernon Adams is not the way for EWU, they need a better qb. Hes NOT gonna win the Walter Payton Award, and hes NOT gonna get EWU a national championship.

Falkin this post is an embarrassment!!! Would you rather go back to the mid 2000's and have a bunch of 6-5 and 7-4 seasons???

Look bro, all I can tell you is that I'll bet 100$ cash VA does not lead EWU to a national title. Put your money where your mouth is. Didn't think so.

Coming from the guy who has VA as his profile picture? You're an embarrassment. You're either Alpha's brother, or him living in disguise so you can be an EWU fan like you've always wanted to be.

Oh and btw, fix your signature, we only have 2 Walter Payton award winners...until VA wins it next year. :coffee:

What a GREAT season. One play away from another national championship game. 3 home semis in 4 years and we won the chipper in one of them!

What a great team, great group of seniors, great fans, great program.

The loss hurt, it downright sucked, but these guys will bounce back and 2014 is going to be another great year!

As horribly painful as it was (will be for a while), the program is solid with good players and coaches (talent and character). We're a national powerhouse and given the enormous amount of animosity toward us, nationwide, clearly demonstrates that.

Focusing on the good-VA played a great game Saturday. The 4th and 2 throw will be what sticks with him for the next nine months but considering the total body of work he did on Saturday, we never would have been in that position if he hadn't made some of the amazing plays he did. I remember thinking numerous times; "we have a really good QB." I feel horrible for him because I thought he actually played very well. Defense generally held the best running attacks in the country to relatively minimal performance throughout the playoffs. I don't think anyone expected 8-0 Big Sky record-impressive. Beating OSU-WOW! A ton of early verbal commitments-impressive. 10,000 regular season attendance average-I love it. Beating UM in Missoula-not easy-EVER. Total domination of MSU. Three extra tailgate events in December (my liver doesn't share my enthusiasm on that one). Earning a spot in the final four and being disappointed-my, how far we have come.

On a separate note: I was Christmas shopping on Sunday and was amazed at how many people I saw wearing EWU shirts, hats, coats, etc. I love the University as a whole but that is a product of our football team. I love this team and all it stands for. Roll on Eags, you're doing it right!

Well said! Saturday was tough for all of us who have a connection to the program, both as a fan and alumni. I will never forget the feeling in the locker room after letting it slip away against SHSU in 2004, and these guys won't forget this loss either. It will be a fuel rod during winter workouts and throughout the year, I promise you that. VA will be just fine. He'll learn and grow from this, and so will the rest of the squad. I'm proud as hell to be an Eagle!

Time to focus on the Gateway and doing whatever we can to get that thing off the ground. I can't wait until they open up fundraising to everyone, kind of like MSU did with their capital campaign.

Can't believe there's people bitching about a season that included:

An 8-0 Big Sky finish (Never been done in school history)
Defeating a Pac-12 program (Never been done in school history)
Back to back semi-final appearances (Never been done in school history)
Back to back wins over Montana, and winning 3 of the past 4 over them (It's been a long while)

A little perspective is needed. We had a great season and will have several more in the immediate future.

With the kind of recruiting classes we've had the past couple of years, we're going to be back bigger and better next season.

Its not all on VA...it's a team sport and takes more than 1 guy to win or lose a game. Over all it was a good season and we now must build on this and come back better and stronger!

No it isn't all VA, but he is the QB; the most important position on the team, so more fall's on his shoulders than other players. With it you get all the rewards or you fall short. VA wasn't ready for this game, mentally.

A great season is a trip to Frisco....
 Man we win one national championship and some people's heads explode. Now not winning one every year makes us a lesser team.

SO PROUD of everyone on the team! What a joy and fun ride again!
Too bad not everyone feels the same and too bad not everyone understands what it was like before all the success of the past 4 years so they can be just proud of what the guys accomplished!

GO EAGS!

Congratulations on an outstanding season. It fell a touch below expectations, but a 100 teams wish they had your problems. I don't know exactly what you have returning, but with the Q, and the wr's it's more trouble than any foe wants to face off against. Look forward to playing you again next year...should be a dandy as always.

So there are 122 FCS teams, and EWU made the final 4, and will be ranked #3 in the end, but lost 35-31 in the semi's. Yes, they could have and should have won, but so should have Tiger in the last 20 major's, but didn't, and the Broncos last year in the NFL but didn't, and in the NBA finals last year San Antonio should have beat Miami in game 6, but didn't!! You see where I'm coming from, it was a tough loss for EWU, but a TEAM LOSS, NOT a VA loss.

In all, the Eagles set 48 school records, 22 Big Sky records and 12 FCS records. The most noteworthy:

• 592 points scored, breaking the conference record of 537 set by Montana in 2009;

• 83 touchdowns, topping Idaho’s 72 scores in 1993;

• 8,002 yards of total offense, shattering the 6,735 posted by Eastern in 1997.

8-)

Some of you Poindexters just don't realize how difficult it is to get to the nc game. Losing in this game two years in a row.. that doesn't strike you as strange in anyway??? Especially considering the game was won with one completion to a wide open target? Going 0fer in semis is to be congratulated? :?
