Gubrud suspended

Kurt Calhoun out as well. That's our best offensive player and our best defensive player. Very disappointing.

We require two wins to make the playoffs, and this type of shit doesn't help. While I have no idea what happened, I think it is awfully ballsy of Coach Best to make the suspensions. Team rules are team rules. It doesn't matter if you're a part-timer or the star of the team, they apply to everyone. Glad we don't handle our affairs like some other Big Sky teams do.

All of this.

I am incredibly disappointed to read the news; however, I think the message Coach Best is sending is awesome. If you violate team rules, you will pay the price. No matter who you are. Here’s to Eric putting some life into our offense!!

It is what it is. What if Gubrud had been injured during a game? EB3 would be called on to do his job. Now he has a week to prepare.

What, were you some kind of saint in your younger days?

Sorry Claw, not buying this one.

Like it or not, Division I athletes are held to a higher standard than the rest of the student population. They are ambassadors for the University, period. That said, believing that there aren't going to be shenanigans from time to time is probably an unreasonable expectation. What is a reasonable expectation is that your starting QB and a team captain walks the line and doesn't put himself in these sort of situations. Not saying there aren't valuable lessons to be learned here, but I am more disappointed with this situation than I am with the Weber loss. What the hell were they thinking? Some humility is in order here on the part of Gubrud and Calhoun.

Hopefully the team responds to this. If we can't beat UND, even on the road and with a backup QB it will be fairly obvious that this team has mailed it in.

You're both right.

Without knowing what happened but trusting in AB to make the right call, it was egregious enough and horribly selfish. You're letting down 100 teammates and all of Eagle Nation. :ohno:

And anytime you're in charge of 100 18-23 year olds the odds are somebody is going to screw up. I was certainly no saint either. This is more than likely forgivable and a teaching moment.

The lesson here should be, don't put yourself in position where bad things could happen.
As a fan I do not think the wheels are falling off, just a speed bump.

Precisely.
