Head Coach Situation

The Davis Enterprise is reporting that UCD's new AD Kevin Blue will address the football situation the day after the Causeway. http://www.davisenterprise.com/sports/a-reckoning-due-for-aggie-football/

Apparently the decision has ben made to cut Gould lose ASAP to not interfere with recruiting. Gould has one year left on his contract. He will probably land on he feet since his old boss, Jeff Tedford was hired at Fresno State. The article mentions our situation with Sears and the potential competition for Troy Taylor.

Davis has obviously hired a sharp young and ambitious AD. He seems to have a vision of how to improve the program and is willing to make the moves necessary to get results.

Let's hope our AD will take note and join the competition for the best coach out there. If he choses to stay the course and it don't work out it's not on Sears, its on him. Judging from the pathetic attendance last night and at the Poly game the window is narrow to save the program.

Congratulations to the Hornets, offense has come together last two games. Run game looks good. Our defense is still very very bad. No matter how this season ends I am still hoping for new leadership. Sears has only had one winning season, 7-5 interm year. The rest of his years combine that total. Next week is the crap bowl.

Let's hope we can "flush out" a victory!

Saw about 3 quarters of the PSU game online. Credit to the OL, they dominated up font on the run and Robinson had a monster night in his last game at Hornet Stadium. It was fun to watch. Defense was clueless coming off a bye which is pretty sad.

Of course the bad news in this is that the PSU win probably gives Macriss the idea that this program is turning a corner. A Causeway win probably removes any doubt that Sears returns for the last year in his contract. Macriss doesn't come across as a guy that is going to make bold and exciting moves, finishing the season off on a 2 game win streak gives him the perfect out to do nothing about this sub-par coaching staff.

Sears is not going to be fired, not going to happen. He has one more year. If they win he will get another if not, we will hire a new coach. The best you can hope for are some changes on staff. Offense has improved last 2 weeks. Defense is horrific. Special Teams are average.

But QB still sucks

K-ham seems to hesitate and sometimes makes bad decisions. Kniffin has had a shoulder problem and not played all season yet they brought him in for one play when K-ham lost his helmet. If Kniffin had a red shirt year left it's stupid to burn it for one play.

Of the QB's currently on the roster, K-Ham gives this team the best chance to win. We saw that with the laughable performance of Merker in the UNC game. Cassel has a caliber D1 arm but would get eaten alive behind this OL due to his lack of mobility. Kniffin had his shot to shine last season and blew it. Until another QB is brought in or Ale proves to be worth a shot, K-Ham is the guy.

SDH...if you're going to keep blasting McCriss for not firing Coach Sears, why don't you and a couple of your other big time booster buddies combine your resources and cut the athletic department a check for Jody's last year of his contract and give the AD the resources to put the first buyout in the history of the university into motion.
If you are not willing to do that you are just running your mouth...again....and again...and again.

This is rich coming from you.

I agree K-Ham gives best chance to win but does not mean he is any good. Cassell was in a sling on Saturday so he is obviously injury prone

Time to put up or shut up...and we all know you won't do either
Been putting up coin for almost a decade prior to this season, I'm done throwing away good money after bad on Hornet FB until they prove it's worthwhile again. This is Macriss’ (not McCriss btw, get it right) issue to deal with. That’s why he is getting paid the big bucks. Besides, going on a crusade to oust FB coaches is your shtick.

We don't give money to recognize wins or conference supremacy, we give money so that the players will have a rich experience playing a game that doesn't matter if you win or lose, so that they become outstanding citizens and can contribute to society.

Any update on the P1000? I want to make sure the student athletes have a safe, warm, cozy environment so they can play their game against NAIA teams.

Giving money and expecting wins is not the Hornet way.

With the Golden $$$ Fountain located in UCFE, there is no way we can outbid them for any potential HC, so if Taylor is being courted by them expect them to land him.

The last time I checked the guy I wanted gone, is gone.
That $250 in coins you have spread out over the last ten years is going to come up a bit short of buying out the current HC's contract. Someone who continually pretends to know what's going on doesn't need to get on here and call out the AD to do something he absolutely does not have the resources to do. I guess that's your idea of a "bold and exciting move".
Time for you to get it right.

Yup Sperbeck is gone, a lot of good that has done us. Good call.

The guy managing a $22M+ budget can’t find <1% of that to make a HC change? Makes cents (sic).

Sears has been on probation as attendance is about 5,000 game, which is a far drop from the previous years' average. I say his probation was a failed attempt. Coupled with a 2-9 record makes this a no brainer.

Found this story headline appropriate: http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2016/11/16/will-this-be-last-christmas-for-sears.html

How much $$$ is the department losing by having 5K attendance compared to 9,000? I say the difference is $200K, so can him and get somebody who will draw crowds again.

That’s the irony in the OSH logic fail. No other program at entire university has the capability or potential to get 10k+ people on campus 5-6 times a year that are willing to shell out money that goes directly to the university…yet folks like OSH are ok to hide behind the “he doesn’t have the resources” narrative. This mindset is exactly why we are where we are.

BTW one extra body bag game next season covers Sears’ final contract year AND covers the first year of the next guy’s salary…but yeah no resources or something.
