Here's What We Need to Do.

Everyone needs to pony up and give to the Blue and Gold Club and QB clubs so we can afford to hire some real coaches. The coordinators and everyone else, needs to get fired at the end of the year and we won't be able to get better coaches until we can afford them. I'm typing this as ISU, yes ISU the team we beat the past 3 years is setting records against our defense. Shay might be the worst coach I've ever seen. The Equipment manager OC needs to go as well.

I would start at the top first and foremost. Jay needs to go, bring in a good A.D. and then let him/her see what they can do. It's the A.D.'s job to manage this and he is just not getting it done. Once we get a new A.D. in, they can evaluate why we can't compete in football.

You mean, Kay Norton? She would have to fire Hinrichs.

If it's the Presidents job to fire the A.D. then sure.

One more question--Who outside of Collins was interviewed last winter? I forget and I was just curious. No other reason.

Shay's defense is the softest I've ever seen. The zone coverage is obviously NOT working. The opponents are completely wide open so many times, it's unreal.

First thing we need to do is call Colorado and see if the wide receiver position they offered Lobato is still available! Seriously, 4 interceptions, a 50% completion rate, only 212 yards and one scoring drive against a horrible defense like Idaho State? I hope you get the start next week just to prove once and for all that your glory days of high school are in the past. Good luck next week, I hope you prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

Secondly, stop with the 3 DL's and playing zone coverage! You will NEVER put enough pressure on the quarterback with 3 guys to make the zone coverage effective.

Lastly, give Hildreth the ball! HE is the running back! 9 carries? Just plain stupid!

Until these and many other things are fixed, the only thing NC will mean is "No Chance!"

Here's What we need to do ! Panic this Year sorry but if you read my post I have been 100% right about things in this program. Jace Davis hurts when your team goes 3-7 the previous year and You have 3 First team all conference players that means that those guys are pretty damn special. Davis is a possession receiver that can do deep and make the big time play. We no longer have that. WE have a roster full of kids that could only play at UNC or some RMAC schools at best. The talent around our great players are awful. Our D-Line has never been able to get to the quarterback since 2006 and tonight vs Idaho State proved just that. We have no stars just a team full of role players that don't play their roles. Defense get ready to have a target on your backs every weak to get picked on. We will see better passing offenses and running games = no wins. Teams Like Montana ,EWU, and Weber will play just to boost Stats and make cases for their All-Americans. The Spread offense ??? Get rid of it and Ask Peterson for his playbook back. Our offense was rolling last year putting us in the position to win games against Weber, Sac , EWU,Montana State and NAU last year. We just don't have heart ! Downing was not the reason we missed the Kick at Weber last year, Downing wasn't the one who fumbled up by 3 in the last minute of the EWU game own our own 30. Nor did he blow coverages to seal the victory for Mont State last year. Players must have the will to make the plays in crunch time. Oklahoma showed that tonight. Players Playing conservative have impacted this team to not be where it should have or where it should be. You cant recruit good players because good players don't want to lose. We are lucky to get good players. And if we had a team full of players that cared about being the best players on the field we are blogging about Wow UNC is back to the future. too many soft minded players.

I would agree that losing Jace Davis didn't help, but we do have WRs who are capable of making plays. Yesterday, the QB couldn't get them the ball. If you do not have a QB in there who can open up the passing downfield, then you will not have a running game, thus making it difficult for our RBs. A QB must be able to stay in the pocket and read the defense. Yesterday was a disaster, but to blame it on the defense is unfair. The defense would stop the offense on the defensive side of the ball, and the would offense would go 3 and out or turn it over giving the other team good field position. This meant our defense was on the field 11 minutes, almost a full quarter, more than our offense. We can't keep ourselves in games this way. CSU was definitely a better team, and the defense showed they can play. It will take an offense that can stay on the field longer than 4 or 5 plays. It's too bad that players like P.Walker, who tied the record for receptions, are overshadowed by the poor performance of the team. I do blame the coaches....something that was said in the paper this week bothered me. Boyer was asked it there was a QB controversy, and he said he was going to prevent that from happening. I feel that there should be a controversy at every posititon, every guy should have to fight for his spot every practice, and every game. The best and hardest working player should be given a shot!

My only hope is Collins is some sort of recruiting master mind and somehow pulls some crazy JC talent out of his ass this winter, maybe get a few guys in under questionable circumstances I don't care, Greeley is a sort of rough town so a couple thugs/convicts/gangstas, whatever as long as they can play....

I'm kidding, sort of...

 Ok that was funny but me as a fan, I am not sure how much more I can take. I only have so much enthusiasm !! I want to back the players and I want to back Collins and I will go to the Weber State game but if it all falls apart, sorry but I am gone at half time !! After 6 years of this crap, apathy sets in real quick and I hate to have to say that because I really want this Team and Coach Collins to succeed, :thumb: NOW !! I am sure fans are as pissed off as the team is and we all are tired of freakin losing!! GO BEARS, DAMMIT !

As frustration sets in....for everybody....I would like to offer a couple of thoughts:
1. Please continue to support The Program. The bottom line is that there are fans in a variety of sports who feel disappointed year after year after year (you could be a Cubs fan). A fan is just what we are....people who support a program, institution, and the people involved.
2. The coaches are doing the best that they can. Great programs have head coaches who surround themselves with knowledgeable, energetic and passionate assistants. I understand that coaches are "fair game" on this board, and we deffinitely have some serious issues with both scheme and effective use of personnel on offense and defense. As I have said before, coaches are far too selfish not to want to win, they need to win. As Collins struggles to rally the troops (and his comments about "find 22 players" borders on panic), this is a great time for us to look into HIS character. Are the coaches going to turn on/attack each other (I heard a coach quit after the CSU game), will they turn on the players (there's always the "I didn't recruit these guys" bulls**t. There is no doubt that UNC has (at least) equal athletic talent to others in the league, the coaches have to find a way to utilize the talent, and cover up deficits. Football isn't a rah rah grrrrr go get 'em sport on the field, it's an intense balance between technichal execution and the ability to exectue full speed. If the coaches begin to turn this into a "how bad do you want it" situation, they are doing nothing to develop players. Yes, there are times to question a guys manhood , but I am not sure that the coaches have distinguished between that and "playing mindgames" with the players that Collins referenced in his interview before the CSU game.
3. Players do the best that they can. Say what you want, each player is dealing with 100% potential. The faster they play, the greater their technical motor pattern, and the more support they feel....the better they perform. Players DO NOT play for a coach! They play for themselves and their friends. They want nothing more than to perform at the best of their ability. Effective coaches and fans provide the support the players need to be their best.....nothing more.
So in looking at where we go from here......the answer is simple.
We go forward.....together!

Agree with you on #1 and #3. There is talent here, though. This team showed some signs of life last year, even with a coach on his last legs. As far as your second thought, its ludicrous. Collins has managed to create a bigger disaster for himself with his decision making (Lobato over Orms for one) than he walked into. That argument is unacceptable to me as a fan of this program and a UNC alum based on five halves of football I've seen this year (2nd half against CSU being the exception). Thinking like that allowed Scott Downing to survive five years.

Okay.....here's what I meant:
My true belief is that this staff is woefully lacking in experience (which is actually ok), but moreover, they do not seem to know how to utilize a)what they have, and b) any logical semblance of balanced personnel packages to do anything other that put little fast guys on the field and hope they get open for first downs. I was really trying to be less direct, but now the cat's out of the bag. Any play calling that does not result in first downs, touchdowns, etc. is not effective, and easy to attack. I have not seen a game plan get executed to this point, rather a lot of "grab-bagging" that finds an open receiver inconsistently.
I will continue to support the Program & kids, and yes coaches.....I just hope they get it figured out in a productive, positive, and well balanced manner.

Its hard to say what's going to happen to this team. As of right now, I don't see them winning a game. You have a rookie coaching staff (again), and lack of talent. Not saying we don't have talent on this team, because we do, but I don't think have enough. They got out coached against Lindenwood, eh CSU was a littel better, but ISU they were way out coached. See ISU was smart, they hired a coach that had more than a half year of head coach experience, and one that is a proven winner in the big sky.
