Hindsight

clawman,
Check out the Spokesman Review, and you will see where Vernon told the Oregonian Paper, he must take two more Math Classes, and could not register at Oregon until those Math Tests are completed satisfactory.
Sorry for the young man, he wanted this, so hope he accepts what comes along with not completing Graduation Satisfactorily. The Pasture is not always Greener on the other side! Hope we can all now put this to REST. Vic Wallace

Hi Vic;
I did read that SR article. I am curious if he passed the test but test scores are low does Oregon accept a student regardless of their academics or do test scores need to be high. I'm sure the football program needs to keep their numbers high enough to satisfy the NCAA.

Vernon needed to get passing grades on his math class to satisfy EWU's requirements for graduation. If he can't do that, he doesn't get the degree and therefore doesn't meet the requirements to transfer to (name not to be spoken) to continue his "graduate degree". Too bad he didn't take things more seriously so as to not be in this position. Wish him l the best but doubt we will see him come Sept 5.

So can he still graduate "on time" with an incomplete? How much of an extension does he get?

Odd. There were no academic issues when he played for EWU. Right?

No, but had he decided to come back for his Senior year of eligibility, he wouldn't have been rushing to complete classes in order to graduate early (this year), either. Meaning he would have had almost a year and a half to get everything he needed to complete finished rather than just 4-5 months.

So if he is in (name not to be spoken State) how is he going to finish his degree? Or will he be taking it online at that point? :coffee:

This is no problem, however it does give us something to talk about, which is fun.
Please remember Oregon is a very big and a fine university. I am sure they have several young math students that are quite capable of taking a couple of math tests. He is just trying to complete course work for a math class. This will cost no more than a couple of green O NIKES for the student tester.

And he would have had support of coaches, advisers, team mates, etc to stay on track stay and IN SHAPE

I feel horrible for Vernon because he has really created a difficult situation for himself when it didn't need to be that way. He read too many press clippings and had too many people filling his head with nonsense. It really is too bad.

Just gotta see how everything plays out. It was/is a big gamble, to be sure. I still don't really know what to think about it. I just hope that he actually does earn his degree and gets to play football his senior year, even if it's going to be somewhere else.

So, if he does not pass his class, he has not graduated, and therefor should not be able to enroll at Oregon, nor practice, right? Looks like summer school

Even reading this thread makes me feel guilty of hoping bad things for VA. I wish no ill will on him but I am just curious. If a student fails a test does he get a chance to take the test over or does he have to take the entire class over?
As far as I'm concerned let him go, currently his presence is just a distraction.

So I'm confused. Is he eligible or is he not eligible?

Not eligible until he passes this math test. Exactly what that entails, I have no idea. He is in Eugene, though, so it doesn't seem like it's that big of a deal.
