Hornet Stadium Experience at Causeway?

For those that could attend, was there any improvement from the UM game with: 1) Lack of Bathrooms, 2) Insanely long line to get in the stadium, or 3) Only two beer tents?

If there was no improvement, how do we go about requesting that change before 12/7!? My wife won't go if she has to wait 45 minutes to pee.

The biggest problem I've had with large crowds has been the long wait at the entry gates. They need to open more gates and have more staff to check bags etc. They knew it was going to be near capacity but the staffing looked the same as a regular game.

That’s unacceptable.

SD, do you think the admin is aware of this? And there’s nothing they can do?!

Getting in is the biggest complaint for me. 3 gates, with 3 huge lines. Some of the lines crossed each other, which led to confusion and cutting. And the South gate gets jumbled with folks buying tickets, so I avoided that one. In the line I took, there were 2 students scanning the tickets. Took around 20 minutes, which is about 15 too many.

In previous games, I know the middle gate was reserved for students getting in free, but not sure about last Sat. In any case, students should use another side door to get in, like maybe over by The Well? That would free up a gate for general admission. Then staff each gate with 8 scanners and 2 bag checkers, and problem solved. Cheap student labor is an easy win.

Bathroom access on the visitor side wasn't too bad. The bathroom under the stands went pretty fast. And the wife didn't complain, so I assume it wasn't awful for the ladies.

As for concessions, I didn't even try. The lines were long, and there were tons of folks content with watching the game from the end-zone fence. Not sure where the lines ended and the spectators began.

BUT, I'll take that and a win any day...

They should be aware, and if they aren't then there are bigger problems. There is no legitimate excuse for not addressing this issue for Causeway. Ultimately it's up to facilities to get the temporary bathroom situation addressed. It's not athletics staff that rolls out the portables but athletics needs to apply the pressure to get gameday needs addressed.

Athletics also has no control over the concessions nor do they reap any of the revenue generated therein. TBH, concessions should be the least of the gameday concerns. If you don't want to get stuck in a food line; tailgate, eat before getting to the game, or join Hornet Club and eat at the HC tailgate area.

The gate access is a big issue IMO. I got stuck in a long line for homecoming and it sucked, bad. The middle gate was students only for that game, not sure if it was students only for Causeway. For Causeway I got in line about 20 minutes to kickoff and got to my seats with about 5 minutes to spare. There was a massive line at the southern gate that didn't die down until mid 2nd quarter. Problem here is there are only 3 gates, and I'm not sure getting more people to scan tickets can speed things up as there isn't much room at the gates. Only solution would be to set it up like at an airport terminal and have multiple lines that funnels everyone through the existing gates after tickets are scanned/bags checked.

was only at Homecoming this year so far.

At the gate nearest to the Well maybe 100 people in line when the gate opened one hour before kickoff. Got in shortly after the gate opened.

An hour later after kick off the Stadium looked mostly empty. Then by the 2nd quarter it did look like 15K.

Agree that fans need to get into the stadium with ease and flow whenever they arrive.

Good to hear that the restrooms under the east bleachers were open. Those go back to when the stadium was originally built in the 1960s. They were closed at Homecoming so those on the east side had to travel over to the west side. Very odd. Those permanent restrooms need to be open every game under the east side bleachers. Need any and all amenities to be exploited to try and fill Hornet Stadium -both sides that make up a stadium. .

Guessing we had the best home attendance among Big Sky schools way after Montana and Montana State during the regular season. We have the 2nd largest stadium in the Big Sky and 10th largest in the FCS by capacity. So lots to do to fill our stadium to capacity as a challenge game by game. Being the 2019 Big Sky Champions is a great place to continue that goal. And ranked #3 in the nation in football at FCS level.
