You are right, it is a hell of a lot more than $30k. Cal Poly got a sizeable check from Northwestern State for buying out of their game with Cal Poly and Cal Poly used the money to make it worth Sac States time to come down to SLO. I am glad that it worked out and hope to see Sac State on the schedule every year.
I would hate to see Cal Poly on the schedule every year. That means we would be stuck with the same boring schedule every year with only the 1 FBS scheduled team changing (ucd and Poly plus the 8 Big Sky games). As much as this "regional" game would increase fan interests and attendance numbers, it doesn't really benefit Sac State in any way. Plus with Cal Poly stuck in football purgatory that is the Great West, I'd much rather see Sac State use that last opening on the schedule for either a mid to upper teir level FCS school or another FBS school to bring in more money to the program.
