Smith is a walk-on and MBT is a re-tread.
When are we going to recruit a Higgins, Nichols or Denham?

This was a systematic failure, offense, defense and Special teams all looked unprepared. Sperbeck is not the answer.

Weber was as bad under graybeal and the hornets were under mooshiagian. Mcbride has turned that program into high gear in the same time we have not improved in any aspect. We have the highest paid HC and budget in the BSC, yet we still suck. Where have we improved?

GCM, Where did you read that we have the highest paid head coach? I seem to recall that Portland State and Montana were well ahead in football head coaching salaries. Sac was near the middle.

I so badly want the Hornets to improve, but I just haven’t seen it. Their defense is so bad. Even a terrible, injury depleted Idaho State moved the ball against the Hornets.
I’m glad they have gotten two wins, and they should beat Northern Colorado and could potentially beat Northern Arizona, but four wins is the most they will have. I really thought the team was going to take a step forward this year.

I hope I’m wrong

Your screen name says it all. But I will say this. I view the Big Sky Conference in 3 tiers. 1st tier is the top 3 teams, 2nd teir, the middle teams, and the 3rd tier teams being the bottom of the conference. I honestly feel that Sperbeck has pulled this program from the 3rd tier into the lower 2nd tier. I want to see Sperbeck pull this program from the lower 2nd tier to compete with the lower 1st tier. I honestly believe this is currently in progress. All of our losses have come against ranked opponents, ranked as in top 25 FCS teams (UNLV was a FBS loss). This program is definitely moving in the right direction. Trust me; I was a student during the Moosh Dark Ages. We are far from that. I couldn’t get through a game without a heavy drinking pre-party. (OK sometimes I never remembered a game, but can you blame me?) We’ll see how things shape up in the next few seasons.
I don't aggree. I see at as two tiers. 1st tier: Montana, Montana St, E Washingtoon and now Webber. These teams have either competed for the BSC, tied won and or went to playoffs. Then there is the rest. Until we can actually at leat compete for either the BSC of playoffs or head in that direction the rest is garbage! PS I am speaking of recent history.

Who cares? If he is wrong it's only by a couple of dollars. Also we have the best recruiting area.

Glanville makes 175k and Sperbeck makes 130k. Thats more than a couple dollars...
Maybe to you. apperantley you have never mad that level of income. after taxes not much of a difference. Besides they will probably both be looking for a job soon. If it is about money they would both be be better off at a California Junior college(same pay and better benifets). I don't think Sperbeck took much of a pay increase if any. By the way good luck with your 7-11 job.

This is actually a good question. (regarding:Higgins, Nichols and Denham). Denham and Nichols were local kids that we did not get. Not sure about Denham, however we did a horrible job with Nichols. Just gairly recently we lost Taiwan Jornes another kid from Antioch (Deer Valley). I realize that these were under Moosh however I haven't seen much of a change in this area.

Kadeezy and all you other people who think MBT is better have know idea what football is. You all just look at statistics and have know idea about the other aspects of the game. If MBT hadn't started for UCLA because the starting and backup QB's got hurt, you wouldn't be talking. Obviously he left for a reason like the new head coach basically said You won't be getting any playing time, I wonder why.

Don't tell me what I think. Never once have I EVER typed that MBT should be the starter. I have only been lobbying for him to get some game time to see what he could do. I think he did okay today for jumping in the middle of this mess.

I don't care where he played before. He was garbage for UCLA and he was a walk-on so it's not like he's some drop down 4 star recruit. When we're losing 42-7, what the hell is wrong with putting in your second string QB? I don't get why you all take it so personally. Maybe you're related, whatever. But seriously, get over it it's football.

I'm not cocky or anything but just so you know, I probably forgot more about football while I was taking my morning dump than you'll ever know.

Geez, Kadeez! And I thought I got under your skin, but I was only called a fanboy! Hopefully better times are ahead for the hornets...

If I was going to throw crap at you I would of done it when you were trash talking every other back except your boy. By the way he is a great player and we need him back. It's just your bias was so obvious.

find me the posts where i was trash talking "every other back", or keep your piehole shut. and when are biases not obvious? :?

Former Eastern Washington coach Paul Wulff was from Woodland, graduated from Davis H.S. so he has Area connections. Nichols is from Cottonwood up near Redding, Jones as you mentioned is from Antioch, and they have another Senior WR from Winters.
On a side note the Eagles are on a 3 year NCAA probation because of recruiting violations and not eligible for the playoffs.
Weber’s Higgins is from Hawaii so I am not sure how he figures into your argument.
I don’t think Denham going to davis indicates anything. We have heavily out recruited davis for the past three years. A look at our roster shows many athletes from the immediate Sacramento Area, the Sac Joaquin Section and Northern California.
You haven’t see “much of a change in this area” (local recruiting) since Coach Sperbeck was hired? How about Evander Wilkins, Terrance Dailey, Bryan Hilliard, Peter Buck, Zack Nash, Chase Deadder to name just a few young local players that have already contributed to the program. Many other young talented local players like Dominic Carmazzi are being red shirted waiting for their chance to contribute. If you want to include Northern California as local along with JC transfers how about Deionte Gordon, Brandyn Reed, John Hendershott , Jeff Badger, Chris Diniz, Augie Heath etc. All of these athletes had opportunities to play elsewhere. We have also attracted Southern California athletes such as David Coleman and the heavily recruited Sam McCowan so I don’t agree that Coach Sperbeck and staff have not done a good job of recruiting. You will never attract all of the local talent, kids choose schools for a variety of reasons, sometimes as simple of wanting to try living in a different area from where they grew up, creating some space and being independent from their families etc. We live in by far the most talent rich recruiting area in the BSC. Even upper level programs like Nevada Reno (16) and Fresno State (13) have a lot of Sacramento Area athletes on their rosters, not to mention those in the Pac 10 etc. If we can continue to just slow the flow of talent out of the area we will be in really good shape in the Big Sky.
