Anyone that's being real with themselves knows that beating the Ducks is going to be a MONUMENTAL task. Their size, speed and talent are special. However, if we want to give ourselves a shot to win there are certain things we need to do on offense. I watched/studied Oregon a lot last year knowing that we had them coming up in 2015 and got to watch them play live down in Pullman last year and a couple of things really stood out. 1) Their team speed on defense is ridiculous. 2) You can't play east and west football against them. Any lateral plays WSU tried failed miserably. WSU did however have success when they went DIRECTLY AT Oregon - Finding holes OVER THE MIDDLE and driving the ball downfield instead of out to the flat. UO's defensive players had no trouble what-so-ever chasing down WSU's RB's/WR's with bubble screens, swing passes, etc. They did however have a much tougher time stopping plays where Halliday was able to gun the ball over the middle. There weren't many yards after the catch (YAC) but WSU was able to move the ball much better when they went to these types of plays. WSU was able to stay in the game for this reason and almost pulled off the upset. I hope West doesn't try to throw out to the flat because those plays just won't work against Oregon. Our best bet is to let West's BIG arm pick up chunk yardage. We have the receivers to do this! I believe this philosophy gives us a shot to compete with :nod:regon.
