I know all of us are frustrated right now. The program seems to be at the worst point in it's history. Were facing the very real possibility we will finish the season with out a single victory. Has UNC ever gone a season with out a win? However, I am confidant we haven the right guy to turn things around. Collins loves UNC. You can tell by the emotions he showed at the end of the game on sat that he hates losing and feels bad for the seniors on this team who have gone through 5'years of horrible football. He will turn this program around. We need to give him and the players support. Show up for the PSU game in two weeks for these guys! Give more money to the Blue and Gold Club and QB club. Give him more resources to be successful! He will get it done!!!!!!!

I totally agree with everything you posted beardown !! And for those that refuse to go to the games, you people are actually missing some fun football on saturday afternoons. Get over whatever bullshit feelings you have and help turn this mess around. Not showing up does nothing !! Attitude is everything ! Go Bears

Change takes time.....and we forget that time takes time.
It's nice to see a decent (close) game. It is interesting that with Downing we were saying things like "another close one slips away", and now we are pleased to see a close game. Different stages in a career/program I guess. With concern about Lobato getting time to throw, are we not using underneath patterns? Use of tight ends seems to have vanished....why? Any thoughts?

I'm not as confident as you Bd. He may love UNC but he'll never turn this program around if he continues to throw his players under the bus and berate his players in public for his and his staff's poor coaching. Did you think Collins would walk into the Big Sky from an inferior conference with an inferior staff and beat many of the best coaches and teams in the FCS?

I'm with you. Collins has what it takes to get this program headed in the right direction. His mentor, Mel Tjeerdsma, was 0-11 in his first year at Northwest Missouri State and those of us that have been around for a while know exactly how good the Bearcats were in the mid-to-late 90s and 2000s. I'm not saying Collins takes us to 7 national championship games, but he can he can make UNC a program that consistently competes for a playoff spot.

Also, a tip of the cap to Jon Boyer, the difference with Lobato from a year ago (or even a couple months ago) to now is just night and day.

Confidence or not, he is here for a few years regardless of the win/loss record. Realizing our school of limited finances had to stick with Downing for as long as they did mostly for financial reasons had to buy Collin's contract out to get him here.

Like it or not, this is the guy we are going with, for years.

Are you high?? Boyer is a friggin' joke! He is the main reason we are in this mess. How can you give credit to a guy because you think his QB is "improving". Well shouldn't he be improving after 9 games?? This isn't pop warner or high school. There is an expectation that a college quarterback would improve after 9 games. But let's be serious he's not! Let's breakdown Mr. Lobato's improvement since all you people want to look at is basic numbers. Lets look at his "fabulous" game against a horrible North Dakota team:

23 for 46 for 430 yds :thumb:
1 int and 3 lost fumbles
-47 yds rushing

15 plays on offense:
5 of 15 (33%) were 3 and out
11 of 15 (75%) were drives of 6 plays or less
Wanna guess what the other 4 were.... TD's!

So when we didn't score, our drives were 6 plays or less..... And this is what you're tossing your hats in the air over? Wow!

You all can lower your standards if it makes you feel better but not me. 0-9 is unacceptable!

Are you high? No wait you're just an idiot.

The -47 was because Lobato was sacked 5 times. In case you didn't know sacks count against your rush yards. So you can put that on the O-Line as well.

The 1 int was a stupid throw, so you can put that on Lobato. The 3 fumbles were the result of sacks, so you can put that on the O-Line as well as Lobato for not taking care of the ball.

As far the offense not sustaining drives, well its hard to when you're pretty much one dimensional. UNC has no running game, and can't really mix it up. When you can't mix it up, its hard to sustain drives. Besides not every offensive possession is gonna go for a touchdown. Plus it doesn't help when your QB is running for his life 75% of the time.

Always with excuses! Sacks didn't cause him to fumble.....being careless with the ball did. That's like saying the RB fumbled because he got tackled really hard. Protect the football!

I agree with your point here but before the game North Dakota was the 25th ranked team in the FCS. I don't know if you can call them horrible.

Geezus you're even dumber than I thought. I DID say it was on Lobato to protect the ball better. And yes fumbles do happen because of big hits, that's part of the game.

Lobato has been improving since he has been here and has really stepped into his role as the starting qb it feels like. This was also his 2nd 400 yard passing game this season and his only int in the last two games so i say that is an improvement especially since the last two games have been against top 25 teams. just because our record isnt what we would like it to be doesnt mean that players arent getting better.

If you have watched the games, you will know that our QB has made tremendous strides. Of all the areas to focus on with this team that is the last. We have found a QB that is going to be really good for us the next two years.

I think Collins can get it done. If he learns from his mistakes and most importantly recruits well the rest will take care of itself. I think he learned a valuable lesson about the coordinators he brought in. It seems to me that one of them has improved this year and the other, well let's see what happens in the offseason.

Major focus needs to be in the trenches because we do not have the horses we need on either side of the ball yet.
