Idaho State

I think that the coaches are trying to push the team along right now. The time for easing off a little bit will come in about three weeks. If you want your team to peak at the right time, you need to be careful with these things, or so the thinking goes.

Bolomboy was a beast last night. The refs were letting them play, more so than the previous game, and that allowed him to really crash the boards.

Buy the way, lets give credit where credit is due. The refs last night were light years better than the crew we had the previous game. I hope we never see that crew again. Although, I'm sure we will.

I agree :+1:

If this crew officiated the hack-fest with SUU, we would likely have had at least 15 more free throw attempts.

Also, this crew did not take themselves too seriously, put up with the Jazz Bear's antics and laughed along with the crowd. Good attitudes!

:twocents:
That was a much better ISU team than in recent years and although I realize and agree Weber has some offensive struggles (that could very well be pinned on Rahe) the players need to get a handle on some basic skills. It took a while, but Weber was in control with (I forget) about 5 minutes to play when Berry and Co. commit 4-5 mindless turnovers in a row. Then, to compound things, they let Hansen have wide-open looks-- deep 3's, albeit, but wide-open.

I don't know how much falls on Rahe's coaching or how much on the players but they turn the ball over way too much and often it is just flat out bad passes/decisions. The team as a whole still almost freezes up when pressure is applied. In the pre-game coaches interview, Rahe specifically mentioned they can't let Hansen stand out there and take wide-open 3's because he'll knock down 5-8, yet that's what the team did that almost cost them the game. Watching Weber struggle with the 1-3-1 zone in the 1st half was painful since that is what they game-planned for. It's a good thing their shooting came around by the 2nd half, especially with Dev, JR, and Royce dropping 3's.

Offensively, something still just is not clicking with this team and I don't like their chances playing the same way on the road but they're still in 1st and hopefully it'll come together before too much longer. Besides, it could be worse, we could be the Grizz right now

:agree: x2

That ref that "got jiggy" with the Jazz Bear was hilarious. The same ref the overturned "Buzcut's" bad out-of-bounds call.

It comes down to this: An experienced official makes a call when he/she sees something and determines that it was an infraction. The inexperienced official makes a call because he believes that something must have happened. The experienced ref will not blow the whistle, even if he/she is sure that something must have happened, if not directly observed. It might be a bad no call, but that stuff happens in every game and everyone knows it. An inexperienced ref will blow the whistle simply because he/she is afraid to be judged poorly for a no call. Inexperienced ref are so concerned about seeming to be unbiased that they actually are biased.

Refs that suck, just suck!

Exactly, we're not playing up to our (fan) expectations and still in first place. As long a they can win I don't care if it's ugly. Just keep improving and hopefully they play their best ball in March when it really matters most.
