Idaho

Well shit, we pulled it off. Hopefully two weeks is long enough to get #1 and #11 back. Those are two big losses.

Had to listen while on the road....sounded like the NDST game a few years ago where ever damn play was a run and there was no stopping them. Going to have to watch highlights...got job done and thats all that matters!

What is up with giving Idaho our worst effort every time? It’s like you can’t even recognize the idiots on the field when we play them. That was horrific today; could we have looked like a softer team? Idaho only had one objective and that was to rough us up and lay blocks and force our D to tackle and we failed miserably all game long. Calling us soft in that game was a total understatement, it felt like guys just didn’t want to play a physical game.

Idaho has a couple of decent players, but on the whole, they are mid-tier Big Sky talent at best. And we make them look bigger, faster, stronger, and tougher than us every time we play.

Nonetheless, much like the Idaho State game, it’s better to win ugly than lose pretty , so mission accomplished in terms of making the playoffs. But damn, we need to turn a corner and play with a greater sense of urgency and a lot more toughness.

PS- what the hell was Barriere thinking throwing the ball into traffic on fourth down when he had an easy first down on his feet? That can’t happen. He needs to be in tune to running the football. The Idaho QB just looked like a far better athlete than Barriere today because he was willing to take shots and fight for yards, even taking on tackles and breaking them. If he actually was a better athlete than Barriere, I guess I could understand it. But in reality, he shouldn’t even be on the same field as Barriere, because Barriere should be a much better athlete. He needs to have that same tenacity the Idaho QB showed when it comes to getting yards however he can.

Yes, Barriere should have run on that fourth down. However, simply comparing him to the running back that was playing QB for Idaho is wrong. That Idaho QB today went all in for one game. There is no way he can sustain that level of running attempts and stay healthy during a real season of football. It was one game and he played hard. However, Eric Barriere
is a real QB that does not take unnecessary risks and he wins games. Did Idaho win?

that's certainly fair, but I'm not asking for Barriere to run the ball 25 times or more each game. I'd settle for just the same way he attacked the field versus UC Davis... a couple of sprint-outs, a couple of zone reads, maybe an improv run or two. It just seems like there's games where he simply won't run the ball, even when it defies logic not to do so. The guy is a really good QB, but he's a really great QB when he chooses to be dynamic.
