Is this disrespectful?

Adams is around campus wearing O gear. Today I saw him at a school function wearing an O jacket. Is it just me or is that disrespectful to the University from which he is still enrolled at an benefiting from a scholarship.

Not a class act. Just excited about his future and thinking about his relationships to others. SAD

Ronthewiseoldeagle,
I did see him at the Basketball Game earlier today. He is no longer a member of our team, so I am trying to keep him out of my mind. "Out of sight out of mind"   He will continue to try and impress people. :tothehand: :tothehand: :tothehand: Vic Wallace

"Butt-hurt"

To me it doesn't matter if he wears Oregon gear around, it is his choice. But, he can't act surprised or be appalled when his former teammates take offense.

The argument that anyone with the opportunity to transfer would take it is so shallow and poorly thought out I just have to shake my head every time I see it written.

Disrespectful? No, probably not. Poor judgement? Probably. There are plenty of students around campus that wear other teams gear, ie, Gonzaga, WSU, UW and even Oregon. However, one would think in this circumstance, he'd try to be a little more nuetral.

The article from CBS is very sad. It seems to me he's just looking for attention now to try and build himself as the good guy who overcame adversity in this process. Former teammate or not, one should not use those comments to describe a team that helped build who he is and gain him this opportunity. I think he's forgetting that his former teammates helped make him who he is just as much if not more than he helped make them. I guess he expected all this to just be rainbows and butterflies and he's fining out, it's not.

Remember, Oregon didn't come to Cheney offering VA a scholarship on a silver platter (NCAA violation) like he just won the lottery. VA said he actively sought out other schools, Boise State and Oregon (cant remember the other off hand). So VA was looking to jump ship.
He might as well get used to it because he will never be welcomed back with open arms like other former QB,s like Bo Levi and Eric Meyer especially when Eagle fans see him in his duck uniform on Sept. 5th doing a jumping high five with his new teammates after a TD. Got to admit going down to Eugene and watching him do that will be sickening. I can only imaging what his former teammates will think of it.

To air that kind of dirty laundry to the press is awfully low-class. Frankly, he probably ought to leave Cheney now if he can't stop running to the media every time he encounters a problem. This kind of adversarial relationship with the team that made him who he is isn't good for either party. If he's going to tell them media his former teammates are "butt hurt," one might be concerned for his health over the next few months.

I don't think they should have taken down his stuff. He earned those things. At the same time, I can't imagine that he would have thought all of this was going to go down well, and wearing Oregon shit around campus isn't exactly helping his cause. I can understand the transfer - just wish he wasn't being such a premadonna about the whole thing. My guess is that's where the majority of the resentment is coming from.

I also don't think he should have gone to the media with that kind of stuff. Kinda low brow.

This stuff really works...try it!

One of my employees is a current EWU student, as was at the Sac St game, and said VA was loudly booed when he came in to watch the game.

It's disappointing this situation has to turn ugly. Sounds like a lot of people could handle it better. It really reminds me of a break up in the way the reactions are.

I've always thought that VA conducted himself with a lot more class then he often got credit for. Even though I think he's taking a huge risk, and I understand why he is doing it. And I can't fault him any more than others who take an opportunity to move up in their lives. At the same time, I can relate to how those who have developed him feel. I've developed managers for our company to have a bigger, richer company poach them, and it's disappointing and frustrating to invest in someone to have them leave. But seizing upward mobility is a part of our culture. And it seems to happen in many areas of life. Heck, even pastors seem to move from smaller churches to larger ones when they have the opportunity.

I hope the tension subsides. I will always have great memories and appreciation for the play VA brought to the team. And he should look back on his time here as incredibly valuable to helping him gain the level of success he's experienced. If I'm aggravated towards anyone, it's towards UO. Though I can't prove it, I really suspect things weren't completely above board on their end in this situation. And I think the fact they play us is a conflict of interest in taking a player from our roster they would have been facing.

dudeitsaid,
I was hoping all of you would stop talking about Vernon Adams. He chose the bed he is now in, so let him live with his decision. :tothehand: :tothehand: :tothehand: He must be the one that has "Butt Hurt", or whatever word he used. He keeps coming into the Games. He is a Student and should go where he wants to, however, Coach Baldwin made his decision, why should his stuff still be in the lockers? We will all live Coach decision. My concern, he is getting a Scholarship from EWU, I just don't think he should be wearing "Oregon Uniforms" in EWU Facilities. He is not going to another University, he is going to Oregon. Another thing, it will be a miracle if he passes his exams, should he pass them, I will be the 1st to Congratulate Him. Why should it be ok for him to be in our facilities with Oregon Uniforms? Was he going to another University, I don't think we would have heard anything. The young man is looking to impress people, taught we all would've known that by now. "Good Day" Vic Wallace

I'm over the entire deal. I hope he does well at Oregon, wish he would have stayed, and wish the whole thing would have turned out differently. I hope we crush him week 1 and he does fine after that. I think both sides do need to show some respect.

I also heard that he has an uphill battle to graduate this June. Not sure what merits there are to the rumor, but hopefully he graduates on time or it doesn't look good for him or the university.

As far as the Ducks, never did like them and VA going there just makes it worse...

If he doesn't graduate how does that look bad on the University?
It's on him not the school . . .besides he had a extra year in terms of scholarship sitting out there for him to finish....totally on him. :coffee:

Based on Jim's article today, the rumors circulating were true. VA changed his major so that he could graduate on time. Talk about exploiting the grad transfer rule a little bit.....

Can the sour apples on this thread please move on. You tears aren't helping anything. Let's just focus on the future of the Eastern Washington Football program.

You probably need to understand that taking down a guys locker when he quits the team is a tradition at Eastern. White athletic tape is put over it and his former teammates then can write well wishes, etc., on it. So, in other words, no different than any other guy who quits.

In this instance, poor old Vern got "butt hurt" about it. Apparently, he thought the same send-off wouldn't apply to him. Accordingly, he texted the "taker downer" and asked if he was the one who did it (neatly, and without damaging anything, BTW). The former teammate replied with a one word "Yep". Ole' Didn't Stay V.A. proceeded to call his former teammate a number of profane names and went on to text him that when he gets to Oregon he's going to make sure that his new teammates take out the knees of his former teammate.

I was looking forward to seeing him succeed. Now, I'm not so sure. He's showing a different side that I'm not liking too much...

I know he is young but IF TRUE WOW :ohno:    that is not cool at all! I know he is probably feeling the weight of his world on him but that is not ok at all. Talk about an ugly divorce.

A total joke. I wish he was just gone. I was going to root for him, but now I'm indifferent, will not root against him or root for him to fail. But I'm done with him. Good luck at Oregon, and get the F out of Cheney.
