ISU Must Win Game!

Da Bears

I hate the term must win, but if Weber has any hopes of making the tourney they must win at least one if not two of the remaining games!

SUU is not backing down! They're focused and physical and working hard to pass or tie Weber in the standings. A tie gets them in over Weber due to their two wins over Weber State. In each win they were more physical and hungry than the wildcats! I think the Cats will get in...... But it doesn't seem satisfying to just make the tourney!

No...you are absolutely right. This is definitely a must win game. Who would have thought? :? ISU can play spoiler, it would take an absolute miracle for the Bengals to secure a spot in the tournament. Weber has to play tough, aggressive and like it is the last chance for the Cats to play this year. Weber can't lay another goose egg at home. Have some pride and protect the home court.

For sure must win. What do ISU fans think about the season and Evans? Was this year more or less than what was expected. We all know it was a huge disappointment for us. Never would have thought we would struggle to be top 8.

I'm starting to think we have Joe 2.0'. It's a head scratcher that ISU essentially made the same hire in Evans as it did with O'Brien: a very defensive oriented older coach with a lack of recruiting skills.

It's going to take some concerted effort and a few years to get that program turned around. ISU is way more competitive this year than they have been for the past several years. He has been a getting a few good recruits and has taken some chances on some that haven't worked out(POY Fox). I think that he is another year or two from being in the top half of the BSC. It's nearly impossible to go from 0 to championship overnight. Give him another couple of years before you throw in the towel.

Last year, the program took a significant step forward. This year, it took two significant steps backward, and with no real hope in sight. Losing Scott Tyler to transfer and failing to sign any significant help for Hansen and Solarin pretty much doomed this year's team. Next year, Hansen and Solarin are gone, and the cupboard is pretty much bare. There are a couple of decent recruits committed, but they will need to come in and contribute immediately for the team to be much better than last place again.

Bill Evans is a good coach and an even better person, and he has a three-year contract extension in pocket, so he's not going anywhere soon. But he and his staff are going to have to really step it up recruiting wise to make any significant progress in the near future. Pocatello is a very tough place to recruit to, but as Mike Kramer has shown in football, it can be done. But it hasn't been done very well in basketball since the mid-1990s.

I fully expect a spirited and competitive game on Saturday. It always is with our two schools. For some reason Hanson just goes off on us and guys who don't do much the rest of the year will have good games against us. With Senglin out, the Bengals are probably thinking they will fare better than last time and this really isn't a road trip for them. I expect a cat fight.

SupaMan will be in the house on Saturday night. He is being inducted into the Hall of Fame. No way the Cats can lose this one!! They have to win it for him.

PREDICTION : Bolomboy sets a single game record for blocked shots.

What is the single game record for blocks?

Catcat, get off your bike, return to your real obsession and answer a stats question.

Single game record is 7 by Brian Devincenzi against Simon Fraser University 11/22/1980

Five guys tied for second with 6 blocks. Most recent to do so was Arturas Valeika at Sac State 3/3/2008

And even though you didn't ask, Big Sky Conference single game record belongs to Steve Hayes of Idaho State vs Weber State in 1976.

Catcat is a bandwagon fan. I heard he is the biggest SF fan because they won the WS.

Instead of being in the running for FOY. Ian Fox just tweeted this out yesterday:

"I received my release from Idaho State. Spread the word to inform the schools that are interested."

I bet his phone is ringing off of the hook.

Loooooooool! That is the funniest thing I've ever heard. I'm sure major school like St. Katherine, Bristol, and The University of the Southwest are lining up for I.F.

Go Cats, beat the Bengals. Game Day!!

Gutsy win by the Wildcats, got to give credit to Golden and Hill, we would have lost without them tonight.
Golden played like I think we thought he was capable of. Now I think we expect something like that performance from now on.
One sad thing is we went down to the wire with a BSC bottom feeder at home.

Sad, but not surprising in the least. In many ways, they don't look any different from the first of the season. When you started with "One sad thing is," I thought for sure you were pointing out how sad it was that the ONLY people in the DEC who didn't know 2 seconds were on the shot clock, after a Weber State timeout, were the Weber players, or at least Golden.

Great win! Way too many 3's! It worked, we got the win, but that's a strategy for disaster! Need to go back to Weber State ball!

I don't care if it was a lesser team in the BSC. We haven't exactly been setting the world on fire, and we are playing without our best player and starting point guard. We are still having our defensive lapses, but at least we are playing hard.

We had a nice crowd and an above average showing of students. As we close out a less than stellar season, we still have a lot to look forward to in the future.

Honestly, I think that our coaches are doing the best that could be done with the situation we are in.

Also, the BSC takes a lot of heat and some of it is deserving. However, the overall strength of our league is much better this year than it has been for several years.

I have been very critical of BSC officiating. Although last nights crew was a little weak, overall the officiating has been much improved this year. Progress is being made. I am encouraged. :coffee:
