Keep Montana Out of Roos Field

How ironic. Should EWU win this weekend, there will be an Eagle fan on eGriz next week asking Griz fans to attend the next game in Cheney because it will not be sold out.

What is the capacity of that thing you call a stadium without and with temporary seating? What will capacity be on Saturday?

In another post someone lamented the poor attendance at rivalry games. Montana had over 25.000 fans at its game and the other nine Big Sky teams had almost 31,000 combined, an average of about 6,200 per game. Seems to be little room for debate. Montana easily has the largest fan base in the Big Sky.

I would like EWU to have a 17,500 seat stadium. When Montana visited every other year the crowd would be split about 50/50 just like the good old days when the game was played in Spokane.

At present, EWU has been able to consistently beat Montana. It is fair to say that EWU has a better football team. However, the EWU program pales in comparison to the program at Montana and most likely always will. Enjoy these halcyon days as they will not last forever. Montana has a stronger program and they will be back.

Desperation combined with insecurity is an ugly combination.

MTEagle, I am not a Montana alum. I did say EWU had a better football team. So why so angry?

What is going at Roos field? I know you installed some red turf. What else? I did ask about seating capacity with and without contemporary seating and would like to know those numbers and what capacity will be this Saturday. Can you or some other Eagle fan provide those numbers?

It is my opinion that Montana.has a superior program. It is quite obvious you disagree. But why do you need to denigrate a poster for stating an opinion. Inferiority complex?

Read your initial post jackass. I will add, unfounded arrogance is a typical griz fan characteristic.

I apologize to all Montana alums for giving their university credit for your education, thank you for clarifying the facts a little.

You posted on the EWU board and your only factual statements were that EWU had the better football team as of late and that Montana had the biggest fan base in the Big Sky. As has been discussed at nauseum for several years, Montana is the only state in the Big Sky that does not have larger programs (FBS) in it. They SHOULD have the largest fan base and largest stadium. ONLY SHOW IN TOWN.

EWU on the other hand, will not be on egriz begging for Griz fans support at our games, and has never done so. We have had no problem selling out games in the past couple years. Yes our stadium is much smaller, big deal. The capacity of Roos Field without temp seating is listed at 8,600. There will probably be around 9,000 this Saturday.

Now, if you don't want a hostile reaction, then don't come on here spouting things that aren't true. That garbage is left for Egriz.

Thanks and GO EAGS!!

Official capacity is 8600, but that doesn't include the suites, TD Clubs, etc. Just a guess based off of this years attendance figures, but I think if you include all of the aforementioned it's over 10k. When you factor in the additional end zone seating, it's around 12k.

EWURanger, thanks for the info.

And to your previous post, assuming that you are posting on eGriz as EWURanger29, with nearly 1,800 posts on eGriz you seem to be more than a semi-regular. No need to be so modest.

Last year on 12/20/13, clawman posted on eGriz and asked 100 Griz fans to attend the Towson game at EWU. He even offered to buy the tickets. Classy offer. Was that game sold out? Thanks.

Notice the join date (2003). I've been following Big Sky football for a hot minute, so I wouldn't read too much into things.

Anyway, I'd take up that offer if someone offered to provide tickets to a game. Pretty damn classy move by Clawman to offer tickets up like that. And to answer your question, no...playoff games don't usually sell out during the winter break. But that's fairly typical across the country. With a few exceptions, regular season games are almost universally more well attended than the playoffs (weather, classes out of session, etc). But you probably knew that already.

No TD clubs or Sputh Endzone seating for this one.

They can always go to Stub Hub... if they can afford it!

clawman,
Saw on the Sports News last night about 10:25p.m., C#22, where Coach Baldwin stated he is not leaving EWU for another FCS University, he is happy here at EWU. Great news, this will keep the hype about Coach B. being recruited by UM. Should something come up from an FBS University, I am sure he will think about it very hard. He did not say that, those are my opinions. Team practiced yesterday, and everyone seems ready to go. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

To All,
I have no problems with UM Fans at our games, we are both Big Sky Teams, and we both have outstanding Teams. The Better Team have been winning. Yes, when we have games here in the Playoffs, UM Fans do come and support us. I will never forget in 2009, in our Playoffs, before our trip to Frisco Championship Game against Delaware, we had approximately 2,000.00 UM Fans came in from Montana and other places to cheer the Eagles on. I LOVE our EAGLES. I just doesn't understand the fuss between EGRIZ, and Eagle Fans. We are all grown men, let us enjoy both of our teams, and do not make it Piss on match. I don't expect all to be happy of my post, we need to respect each others opinion. AMEN. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I think "Bob and Ray" are always happy to see UM Fans, their Fans keep the beer flowing ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Vic Wallace

kalm,
I think you are correct, NO TD Club Tent, or Alcoholic Beverages in the Playoffs. All the monies from the Playoffs goes to NCAA, he regular seasons games the monies goes to the Athletic Dept. Could be wrong. Feel very good about our team this weekend. Vic Wallace

Pretty hard to accept this when ewu gave Montana 500 tickets which will be used to take the band, parents, and support staff. I have always supported ewu but this was absolutely a bush league move by the athletic dept and hope it doesn't go unnoticed by Haslam. Not to give Montana at least 1000 tickets to this game is a slap.

I thought you are required to give a certain amount of tickets to the other school, is it only 500?

Well when most FCS schools can only get 5,000 fans to a game during the playoffs, 500 is a pretty large number. It's unfortunate, really.

Just to be clear, UM hands out the fewest tickets to the team of any other school to visiting teams players. Ticket allowances for players were very low. Why? Because there is high demand from the home team. Congratulations, that is a good thing. It should be hard for me to get tickets to Washington Grizzly.

If you guys wanted more tickets there was a really simple solution, win the auto-bid! You get more than your fair share of benefit when it comes to home games in the playoffs. Am I right?

Is there evidence to support what you just said...or are you talking out your ass....the ticket allowance for players I'm sure was low because by the time they all give their mom and dad (or in Shootas case, the other 2 members of TLC)tickets, half the stadium is already full....seriously get with the times and get something done for Christ sake...and don't start on me about the Gateway pipedream...that program cant get anything done...its embarrassing really.

I take it you didn't get a ticket.
