Kyle Sloter officially NFL QB !!!

Signed to Vikings 53-man roster.

Three-year, $1.665 million contract. Nonguaranteed. Yearly salaries of $465,000, $555,000, $645,000.

If Bradford doesn't play (knee), Sloter is backup to Case Keenum at Steelers.

Looks like it's official and Sloter will be on the field (sidelines) for the Steelers-Vikings game. What an amazing story.

Wonder if there's even a shred of regret by the Broncos for letting Sloter go, in favor of the Osweiler/Lynch/Siemian trainwreck.

On an 8-game losing streak, Broncos went with Siemian this week against 4-7 Miami: 3 picks (including a pick-six), 30.5 QBR.

Going to have to draft a QB with that great pick for losing so well (or sign FA for how much?). Could be giving Sloter a call-up, get him some reps and evaluate, nothing to lose (except the remaining games). If he's promising, could use that pick on another glaring hole.

No doubt Broncos diehards will counter "well, what has Sloter done this season?". But Sloter was signed to be a backup on a playoff team (Vikings are 10-2 currently). That he's not playing says nothing. Keenum's killing it. Bridgewater's back (original starter) but Minnesota's still going with Keenum, and rightfully so.

Sloter shoulld be thanking his lucky stars Denver set him free. A functional playoff team for more $. Learning from pro QBs and coaches. And the schadenfreude of watching the ex that dumped you eat crow.

The fact that the Vikings kept Sloter means they are both high on him and he has good trade value. Really stupid move by the Broncos but I have to think it's better for Sloter to be on a team as a backup for a year or 2 learning the playbook working hard to get adjusted to the NFL instead of being thrown into the crap show that is the Broncos offense.

Here's some irony:

This week, desperate for a QB, Broncos worked out two QBs that the Vikings cut.

Leidner signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent earlier this year but only lasted a few weeks before being waived.

Lunt also signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in May but was waived in late July.

Crazy finish to beat the Saints. Vikings 3.5 favorite at Philly for the NFC championship game. One step from the Super Bowl, which is in Minnesota. Quite the ride for Sloter.

Interesting article about the Vikings keeping Sloter on the 53 man roster. Truly amazing and forward thinking work by the Vikings.

Good find Brian. Viks obviously think highly of Sloter.

"And with Keenum, Bradford and Bridgewater all in the last years of their contracts, it’s easy to picture the Vikings only keeping one of them in 2018 and Sloter being promoted to No. 2. There’s precedent to that working out well: In 2000, the Patriots kept four quarterbacks, including fourth-string rookie Tom Brady. In 2001 he was promoted to second string, then after he took over for the injured Drew Bledsoe, Brady led the Patriots to the Super Bowl."

This would be okay with me.

Looks like he is in quite the battle for the backup position. I wonder if they would trade him if he doesn't make it as their backup (would love to have him here in DC, granted, that just increases his odds of getting his leg broken by 300%).

Detroit Lions signed Sloter to their active roster.

Detroit started third-string QB David Blough Sunday and he struggled. Sloter's regular-season debut may be imminent.

"Against the Vikings in Minnesota, Blough’s play was blah... Although Detroit could look to further grow Blough...there is also an opportunity for the Lions to evaluate the remaining talent on their depth chart. Namely, fellow rookie quarterback Kyle Sloter."

Looking at the Lions' remaining 3 games, one stands out: 12/22 at Denver.

Hope he gets a chance to play and do well. He has been in the mix and has the talent to be a great QB. It can only help with our recruiting to have future recruits know that they too might someday be in the NFL.
