Geving is quoted as saying he hates this kind of game. If so, I can see why. 85-56, and in the last 10 minutes we had the third string in all the way. Turnover after turnover, foul after foul. Our shooting percentage went way down and we looked like a bunch of klutzs. A glimpse of light - Azoff sank all his free throws. Dane Johnson seemed to be the only one willing to shoot. Got to hand it to him, he kept shooting threes until he finally sank one. Alas, we still have Lewis and Clark coming up (unless that's the women?). Who put together these schedules, anyway??

Oh, well. A win's a win. But this one sure won't help our rpi.

My mistake . It was Alonzo Brandon that shot the three pointer. Two of them actually - 2-10. And it's the women who play Lewis and Clark. Not my night.

The reason we schedule games like this is because we can't get a decent out of conference opponent in our high school gym. The only D-1 non-conference home games we have this year are Cal Poly, which I think might have been an obligation from the bracket-buster series, and Seattle U who is transitioning to D-1 right now.

What I wonder is why we don't schedule some home-and-neutral series with bigger schools like Gonzaga, Oregon, Wazzu, OSU and play them at the Rose Garden or Memorial Coliseum, that gives us a better chance to get a win than only playing a road game against those teams.

You're absolutely right about our gym (although it is more junior high than high school) and how it impacts scheduling. The home and neutral series is not a bad idea.
