I know Tad is a great coach but he still hasn't won a game in the Big Sky Tournament, and I can't see one of the "big" schools (at least ones with winning tradition) giving an offer to a guy who is still unproven. At this point, UNC probably has the best chance of making the Dance of any school he could coach next year. If he goes to another program, it will be to rebuild a cellar dweller in a major conference, which would mean the Dance would be at least a few years out for him. And if he goes to the wrong school, he could find himself in some quagmire (like Joe Glenn at WY) and basically ruin his career. However, if he gets it done here next year, he could probably pick and choose between some really good offers.
He is so close to turning the corner here at UNC; I think he wants to stick around to finish the job. I think we are safe for one more season.
