I’ll echo Earle on this one: ugly win. The Hornets have showed they are capable of playing better but it would be nice to see the Hornets put together a complete game.

I'm with you Alum. Sac St. hasn't had many freshmen in Katz's tenure period. Carbajal showed big improvement last year but has regressed this year. I thought Demps had his best game last night. I too wish the victory last night had come easier so we might have got to see more of Barlett. We are now getting some more talented freshmen that shows things are moving in the right direction.

By the way, of the countless others who transferred name one who has made his mark at another school.
That is not a good argument, it tells me they didn’t belong in D1 to begin and that doesn’t reflect well on Katz.

Redshirting in college hoops is pretty rare if its not a transfer situation or injury. You know, for Katz it's all about practicing hard. If you give effort in practice, he will play you. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I give up......if they went 30-1 SD would say Katz blew the one. No way to change his mind. Why do you follow them other than to criticize SD??? I really feel sad for you.

We follow them as a fan and not as a parent, friend or other coach. The only reason for this programs existence is to win. Period. Why go through the motions every year to only post a losing record?

We havent even had a winning season since joining DI a million years ago, so in your mind just keep accepting sub medocrity and everyone is fine with that? BS.

You should feel sorry for yourself if you accept mediocrity. Or sub mediocrity in the Hornets case.

You dont see me on these boards very often anymore because I got sick of 'following' a sad Sac program who can't ever make it to the playoffs, another excuse and baby coddling.

Look, we are tied for the best start in school history. We could set it if we upset ASU. Lets enjoy so far the start that we have had. If davis hadn't shot lights out, we would have found a way to have won that game. We find ways to win, especially deep second half deficits on the road (of all places!).

This is a sounding board for those like us to air their grievances. SD (and myself) have seen many, many hornet teams over the years. We've also seen stubborness in Katz, whether it's scheduling (cupcakes anyone?), benching random players (Kendall Groom, enjoy your seat), running guys off the team (Oh hey Vinnie McGhee BSC freshman of the year, take a hike, I need a roster spot for AARON WILSON), leaving players behind before a roadtrip while they chase the bus (Sorry you had car troubles Mr. Leath, you and your 20 points can stay home, though I will let you chase the bus) just to make a point...

However the three biggest complaints I think we both share are the following: lack of halftime adjustments, too many JC recruits/minimal development of HS players, and pathetic retention numbers as a program (guys leaving left and right). Yes, we're 5-1, but our SOS is soft as hell thus far. I won't be optomistic until we compete for a playoff spot in the conference tourney. In Katz's tenure, we've yet to sniff postseason play.

At least we made the tourney a few times a brought in exciting players, and an energetic style of ball under the Jenkins era. Not saying we have to go back to that, but damn, can one of Katz's bunches of nice guys please win some meaningful games?

No need to feel sad for me, I’m good. I’m just not fully buying into this program under Katz. I was a student during the exciting Jenkins years so I got to experience the exciting up-tempo style and rowdy jam packed Nest on a regular basis. I guess that spoiled me. Katz is in his 5th year and we have yet to sniff the BSC Tourney, I just expect more because his predecessor did it with less admin support and in a shorter time frame. We are off to a good start, but with the talent on this roster I don’t expect or accept near losses to D2 opponents at home and I’m not buying any more excuses as to why we can’t pull ourselves out of the BSC cellar. It’s a long season and BSC play is a couple weeks away and that is when the games will matter most.

I’m always going to back my alma mater no matter what, but at the same time I won’t hesitate to call it like I see it no matter who is in charge. Not everyone has to feel the way I do and there is nothing wrong with that. FWIW I’m cautiously optimistic about BSC play and I hope my snide attitude won’t chase you, or anyone away from these boards.

Go Hornets!

Now this I can agree with. :thumb:
