Mitchell Bros.

MLR,
I talk with Bo, everytime I see him at practice. You are very correct, he is very "Respectable" like all our players, whenever I talk with him, it is always "yes sir/no sir", maybe he noticed my grey mustache/bald head ;). I am very happy to to have him and his brothers here at EWU. I know he is enjoying himself, he was at Subway with some of his teammates, and they all seems to enjoy each other. He always talk to me about his brothers that will be coming here to EWU, after his younger brother get out of high school. Like someone said earlier, All are welcome to our great Eastern Washington University, and the Great Pacific Northwest. I spoke with him on Friday before his interview with the news media, I told him he need a bald head like I have, he said he will tlhink about it. ;)

Whenever I see him, he is always smiling. Can't say much about his brothers, he talks about them very much.

I can honestly say, we will have an "Outstanding Team" with all the additiions we have gotten in the past to play for our "Eastern Washington Eagles". BLM, his brothers, and everyone else that wants to come play for our "Eagles" are very welcome. We have some "Great Recruits" coming in, I met couple of them at one of the Scrimmage, they love what they saw in our team. One of them day is an Airline Pilot.

Can't wait for the tearing up of the Grass Field, and get the Red Turf "Roos Blood Alley"installed. Forgot to mention there was a little sprint contest between Chandler Gayton, CB, and Parker Flynn, WR, Parker smoked him :) My son will be happy to hear that, he coached him in high school (not bragging ;) They were all having fun at the practice and after practice. Thursday after practice the Coaches give the playeers something to either be proud of, or laugh at. The (Coaches) were doing punt returns, some looked grrreat, some fell down trying to catch the balls, etc. It was great to see how they finished the Spring Practices and Scrimmages. Can't wait for August to get started again. Go Eags! Vic

Thanks for the updates, Vic. They're always very personable and I get a real "kick" out of reading them. :D

There are 4 Mitchells coming up to Washington. Bo Levi Mitchell, Partick Honeycutt, Cory Mitchell, and the youngest Scooter Mtichell. Cory Mitchell is a hard working football player who has hands, speed, and great concentration. BLM never underestimates his competitors and will always give his best no matter what school or state he is in. Im very excited that im getting the oppourtuntiy to come up to Washington, and most of all be apart of the EWU eagles. IF anyone needs to know anything about any of the Mitchell's just ask. I know there are alot of questions.

Hey I have a question. Why EWU over UF for the youngest, Scooter I believe? Especially with the opportunity to play QB? Read it somewhere, just can't remember where...

UF...........as in, University of Florida? Please elaborate.

Good to see new Eagle fans from the great state of Texas. We remain proud of how well the Eagles played when they faced Texas Tech in Lubbock in 2008. If you haven't had a chance to join the Eagle Athletic Association yet, you can do so at http://www.goeags.com/boosters/funddrive.html. It takes money to win football games and all our fans need to follow the example of EWU and NFL star Michael Roos and his wife Kat and their $500,000 gift. Even if you have just $100 to donate send it to the EAA care of the EWU athletic department. Help us support our student-athletes (and our recruiting budget) by donating your hard earned dollars to EWU Athletics. Bill Chaves and all the coaches at EWU do a great job with limited resources.

I am still curious about this "UF" reference. I am trying to think of how many other "UF's" are out there. Anyone know anything about this?

I think I can clear this up...Scoooter had to follow three of his brothers thru Katy HS. He was in school at the same time as Bo. Bo was the 'big guy' on campus so their might have been a little jealousy. Scooter is the class clown. In theatre class he was asked to write a paper about his life. He wrote it, won an award; however it was total BS. He told it more like he would like his life to be, thus the reference about being the starting QB for Florida State. Since he won an award, it got into the local paper and so you have the reference. He thinks it's hilarious; his brothers will probably beat the crap out of him when he gets to Eastern Washington after graduation. In all fairness, he did finish on the Katy Football team that for the third consecutive year went to the State Final Game, only to lose to Abilene. He played WR and DB. Katy was named the "All Decade Team in Texas" for thier accomplishments. Second place went to Southlake Carroll. You may know some of thier QB's: Chase Daniel, Missouri; Greg McElroy, Alabama; Riley Dodge, North Texas; etc. One other note just for reference. Bo Levi played against one other Houston QB prospect and won every time he played against him: Andrew Luck QB, Stanford. There is a lot of talk already about Andrew being the first pick in the 2011 draft.

Got it. Thanks for clearing up the confusion, I thought there must be an explanation for all of that. :D

That is hilarious! Gotta respect a kid with a sense of humor, pending ass-kickings not withstanding. That reminds me of what my brother pulled in high school...

He was the BMOC (big man on campus) and as such was one of the students voted to give a speech at graduation (2 kids talked--one was the valedictorian and the other was voted by the kids). He wanted to do something memorable that made him laugh. The laughter of others was secondary. We finally came up with the idea to take a speech from one of our favorite movies and re-write it to be meaningful to high school. Really all that amounted to was changing a few words here and there. The movie? Independence Day. The speech? Bill Pullman's motivational via megaphone right before the deciding battle. He practiced it and had the pacing and inflection PERFECT.
He deadpanned the entire thing to a crowd of 7 or 8,000 people in the Tacoma dome. To this day it was the best graduation speech I've ever heard, though I'll admit I'm a bit biased! The funny part was that most of the parents didn't get the reference at all, which made it even funnier. I've gotta find the video of it next time I head home.
