Bad things going on in Missoula. Their QB was accused of sexual assault, one of their running backs was charged with rap, Trumain Johnson was tazard by a cop at a party last year. Hell I'm sure there is more. Just think we almost hired O'Day instead of Hinrichs. Now I guess Jay doesn't seem so bad. Here's the article on ESPN.

On a somewhat related note - Missoula is just a shit hole with hippies and rednecks and that's about it. They lead the nation in DUI deaths per capita just about every year. I guess there's nothing much to do besides hunt, fish, drink and drive and watch Griz football. What an embarrassment to the conference.

Really? This player is charged with bad taste for music?

Something about throwing stones when you live in a glass house here BD, wasn't all that long ago we had the stabbing incident, and various odd and sundry player screw ups have always been around any program that is trying to compete. I actually salute UM for facing up to this right now, before it becomes worse.

As for the depiction of Missoula, you are entitled to your opinion of course, but I know both Greeley and Missoula very, very well. They have a huge recruiting advantage based on community amenities alone, not taking into account the obvious difference in recent football tradition.

Again, my hat's off to UM president Engstrom for stepping up and doing his job.

We took care of business and stopped the B.S. really pretty quick. This has been happening in Missoula for pretty much a decade. Football tradition? Yes, they win but we will see what type of athlete they recruit now. Sounds like they were willing to take some chances on some great athletes who had some character issues and now it has back fired. At UNC Scott probably passed on some athletes that could have helped us win some games but had some bad character issues. That's why we didn't have many, if none at all get in trouble and make it to the Tribune. His first year, yes but those were Dalton's recruits. It sucks we were so bad it's even more embarrassing when your in Montana's shoes right now. They haven't won a chipper since 2001 and UNC has just as many rings.

The kicker that did the stabbing was Downing’s guy, not Daltons. The kicker that got stabbed was Dalton’s guy. Anyways, back to your discussion.

It really is nice to win but not at the cost of having an unsafe campus or ruining the reputation of a school. Hell, look at Penn State. I don't ever want that to happen at UNC, I don't want coaches hiding guns they got off students and not reporting it (Nebraska), I don't want a thug culture (Miami). If that's what it takes to win, I don't want any part of it.

The negative part for UNC is that the interim coach is Mick Delaney former Mullen Coach as well as CSU assistant coach. He knows this area very well as well as most of the high school coaches. Will have to deal with him during recruiting. Will be going after alot of the same people that UNC recruits.

I don't think he will stick around as permanent head coach. He was ready to retire this year.

Looks like they plan to go with Delaney through the 2012 season, so who knows?
