Montana State

What a weird game, I did not expect a defensive struggle on both sides of the ball, I really figured it would be a shootout. Not that surprised by the fumbles, by either side, we need to fix that. Hope Higgins heals fast and its not serious, might have made a difference if that had not happened. BSC refs suck again, we got a few freebies and so did you. I have no idea what ahppened on our last TD, that was really weird too. Anyway good luck against NAU, you have a pretty young team and will be a force next year.

Definitely not the type of game that anyone would have expected. The thing that great teams do is respond positively to adversity throghout the whole game. On the defensive side of the ball both teams did a nice job on sudden change turnovers. But in the end it was MSU's ability to overcome adversity and that's why they won the game.

On a side note...How does everyone feel about Mac going for it on 4th and 2 inside the 10 in the 1st quarter? I wasn't listening at the time, was there something I missed or was it just a gamble on Mac's part? I know hindsight is 20/20 but I wonder what effect a field goal there would have had on the rest of the game. I just know, from a players perspective, that seeing some results from early drives is important to both the offense and defense especially when you're playing away. Obviously if they get it a first and goal from inside the 5 is a great position to be in at that point. I just question the call if they weren't other mitigating factors that I may have missed.

I agree with you on the call. Our kicker was missing feild goals and has missed feild goals all season. I thaoght it was maybe a confidence in out kicking ability. This I can understand but we were so close. You would think we would just want to put points on the board. At this point in the game it might have changed the outcome. Oh welll--- On to NAU.

I believe that it was a VERY bad call on Coach's part. I think it was more of 4th and a half a yard though. The decision was probably based on an overconfidence in our running game and the unreliability of our longsnapper. McClane has been VERY good and accurate this season, I think all of his misses are due to bad snaps which cause bad holds. I have always thought as a player, when you get a turnover and are in a similar situation, you always take the points and don't take the risk. Especially, when Montana State stopped us on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 last year to win the game! You need a positive to boost your momentum, we took a positive and got nothing.

I think Weber is going to need a couple drop down receivers or great freshmen for next year. We need guys who can get open and catch balls.

On the early 4th and 1 call, I originally thought that given what happened in last years game and with the type of power run game that WSU has that Mac was thinking he was just gonna punch it up the middle and set the tone of the rest of the game. That single play had a huge impact on the outcome of the game, when our defense held, it gave them the momentum and confidence that they called on the rest of the game. If WSU had made it I'm not sure how our defense would have responded the rest of the game.

I thought it was a good call by Mac, he went for the throat and was aggressively going for a win and showed confidence in his team.

I didn't think twise about the 4 th and short call. I thought, and still do, that it was the right call. Just didn't work.
