Montana State

this is just a general comment about teams coming to ogden for conf games...

every yr teams come to this road trip and lose at weber and usually win at isu. you almost have to wonder if it would be smarter to take ur chances getting ur isu win and get the split. rest ur starters and just accept the loss in ogden.

msu has one of the best records in the big sky at weber, 11-47.

what a game! very exciting. it was like watching last yr's team or the yr before.

but im upset our bigs didnt have 30 pts and 30 rebs each. :coffee:

This game worries me a bit. By Big Sky standards MSU isn't a bad team at all. I don't think Weber covers the spread.

Or maybe they do, and then some.

That might be the first game I've seen 'em play this year where they looked good overall. Not 'cause of the blowout, they just looked like they finally put more of a complete game together and that is not a bad MSU team by any means, they just couldn't matchup talent wise. :thumb:

Too bad ISU couldn't keep it together against the Griz.

Yes, assists finally up! Out rebounded them=good. 5 blocks, nice! I was surprised to notice that Tres leads the league in blocks. TOs still too high but shot very well: FG 62%; 3PT 45.5%; and FT 83% (where'd that come from? Berry starting to drop 'em with consistency). Five players in double figures, Joel with a double-double (and a three!) Defensively, Weber did a great job. That's what I'm talking about-- best, complete game of the season IMO.

I would imagine if we had only half the turn overs we would have won by 40 and even more assists. To me this says that the assists are the key. Kind of ironic that Randy said this team cannot pull away from other teams and he doesnt expect them to. Well if that wasnt motivation something was cuz they looked great tonight. Im glad we played so well on a Thurs too because hopefully we can ride it over into Sat against those damn grizzles!

Highlight of the game (besides the Hajek sighting) was the Joel 3 Ball, he didnt even hesitate throwing that ball up and he swished it. Awesome

The heavy home game Sky schedule seems to be just what the doctor ordered for this team (UNC has also started with 6 of 8 at home). Really nice to see the confidence we displayed last night. I thought Gittens was exceptional getting the ball inside and was rewarded with lots of minutes. And when Senglin finally hit a shot, his confidence soared.

Oldrunner, my apologies at guffawing your 82 to 65 prediction prior to the game. After the last two games I didn't think we'd break the spread. I'm not worthy sir!

Great Thursday night crowd. Can we draw 8,000 against Montana on a Saturday night?

Something clicked for these guys, that's for sure. I think moving Richardson back to point has really helped. At the first of the year I was wondering what was wrong with him as I've always liked his calm play. Seems like he has his mojo back -- as well as Berry who is playing like I think we all expected. His 3 at the end of the first half was positively Lillard-like!

Finally, the 23 assists on 28 FGs says a lot about where this team is right now.

Fuller came in a few minutes later and did the same thing. :thumb: :thumb:

But I knew Fuller could hit from 3, he does it all the time in warm ups (so does Kyndahl Hill) But I have never seen Bolomboy jack up a 3, it was the fact that he didnt even hesitate to shoot it and he swished is why I thought it was awesome

What a game!! That was the team I was hoping to see this year. MSU has some good W's under the belts. They beat both NAU and UNCO (they thumped UNCO pretty good) and have a lot of speed and talent. They have a good inside out game and have a really quick and skilled front court, which worried me; their backcourt is fast and are fairly good shooters. I really thought that Weber was in for a barn-burner last night. Looks like our Cats are starting to mesh and to really play up to their level. Even though our youngsters are improving every single game, I really think a wing JUCO, impact player of course, wouldn't be a bad addition. Think of a Nick Hansen, Lyndsey Hughey, Kellen McCoy, Dezmon Harris, Daviin Davis, or Scotty Bamforth. We have the scholarship...go get a good player.

Tresnak has become a shot blocking machine this year. He needs to avoid the ticky-tack fouls. We need him on the floor. His presence changes things. There were a couple of times where MSU doubled him in the post, he kicked it out and the ball was quickly swung around to an open Richardson or Berry for a 3.
And speaking of Richardson, he's been playing recently like many of us thought (hoped) he would this year. He's got to be a consistent 3 point threat. And when he can fake the 3 and step in and hit that mid-range jumper, he's even more of an offensive weapon.
Loved the huge crowd of elementary school kids in the upper deck. Hopefully they are on their way to becoming Weber fans for life.
