Oh, there's no trouble. The two players who have been charged with rape have been wrongly accused and charged. The fired AD and head football coach were just scapegoats. The NCAA, Department of Education, and Department of Justice are conducting witch hunts that will turn up nothing. The Griz have lost 3 QBs this offseason, but their 4th stringer will lead them to a national championship. Nope, nothing to see here. It's terrible to see what's happening to the Griz, but too many of their fans deny that their problems are systemic. Instead, they blame the victims, media, liberal government, and anybody else they can. And where are all the sanctimonious Griz fans who demeaned their conference institutions? They demand to be aligned with "peer institutions" that share their University's supposed superiority. Eastern, Idaho State, NAU, and the rest just aren't good enough. Well guess what? Payback's a bitch.

"Not tonight" means no. It doesn't matter if she had said earlier that she wanted to, or if they had been involved sexually before. The minute a girl says "no" or "stop", you stop.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with you that going ahead with sex after a girl says "not tonight" is grounds for rape. Hell, my wife has said that many times over the years, and I go for it anyway! There are violent rapes, and the stuff that JJ is being charged for. Why didn't the girl cry out to her roommate sitting in the other room if she was being raped?? Give me a break. This chick is gonna ruin a kids life. I got a real problem with that, and you know that I am not easy on criminals. I just know that many of us guys have proceeded to push for sex after a girl says no. Are we all rapists then? If so, they will have to built 500% more prisons to house us all!

Unbelievable. His argument is essentially "well, he didn't rape her violently enough, so he should be given a pass". As if I needed another reason to hate Montana. Hopefully somebody set him straight on their board. Further, I hope that guy doesn't have any kids to pass on that bullshit thinking.

No, this guy has a real problem with his Grizzlies losing their star QB resulting in a less than stellar outlook for his football team. Get over it bud, do the crime, do the time. FTG

Unfortunately this kind of stuff happens all over the country on college campuses, including EWU. Especially when alchohol is involved. I don't wish all this on the UM program, but in a sense, you reap what you sow. I'm not saying Johnson did this or anything, and he will have his day in court, but when you add up all the crap that's gone on over there the past several years it doesn't paint a pretty picture. It's hard to know the exact character of all the kids your program is recruiting, but geez man. Seems like there's a definite trend there in regards to all the kids they've had getting in trouble.

This is sad for all parties involved. Hopefully the Griz won't use it as an excuse when the Eags hand them their asses this fall.

Yikes, the Griz can't seem to buy a break.

This will have an impact on their season next year, but most importantly, hopefully the girl in this matter is ok.

I don't think this will have any impact on their NCAA investigation, but it probably won't help.

The Griz haven't been a QB-dependent team for quite a while. I think they'll come out of this fine. I seriously don't think they'll suddenly become a 6-5 team or worse because of this. Thier defense is still good and they ran the ball all over our defense last year even when we were healthy.

The Griz will have 8 or 9 new starters on defense. Also, pretty much everyone ran all over us last year.

Exactly, and this is exactly what UI will try to do to us. And if our run defense hasn't improved significantly since last season, they'll be successful doing it. They'll make every attempt possible to keep our receivers off the field.

Good luck to them in that regard with their 1 returning starter on the OL. ;)

To All Griz Haters,
This morning on National News, (CBS)Griz QB #10, was mentioned on charges stemming from party life. They had him in TV, along with Victim. This will be a Jury Trial, according to some of the reporters, they are going to have problems finding Juries from Missoula. Little Football Town. I don't wish the accused or victim anything bad. Partying is a "B====" leads to bad things if you are caught    , alcohol doesn't help either. especially if you are under age.

Hope I didn't leave any of you hanging. Vic Wallace

On the eve of the trial, former U.S. Rep. Pat Williams, who is now on the board that oversees Montana's university system, said UM is recruiting "thugs" for its football team.

The Democrat made his comments in a Thursday New York Times story, then repeated them in an interview with Missoula radio station KGVO-AM. He said there have been too many UM athletes convicted or suspended over rapes, assaults or burglaries during the past year.

Williams said he was not speaking about Johnson.

"We need a better recruiting system because the current recruiting system is letting in too many thugs. And that has to stop," Williams told the station. "As a member of the Board of Regents, I intend to do what I can to make sure that this very limited thuggery stops."

WOW this is about to get really ugly when you have a U.S. Rep who is on the board calling out his own program. One of the things that came to mind was the movie The Program ie out of control (obviously not small town USA since it seemed to be depicting Florida State).
My guess is that he is going to recommend to reduce the scholarships allowed to be given and raise the GPA level/standards allowed to accept said scholarships (if that could be done).
Basically tear it down and rebuild.

Thanks for posting the ABC news video . . .100 years? WOW ....I know it can be reduced, but a maximum of 100 years. Those are some good tough laws in Montana.

Also glad they didn't use film from our games.

Geez, what a shit-show. As much as I dislike the Griz football program, I think it's kinda BS how political this whole thing has become. While I do believe that somewhat of a "win at all costs" culture has existed there for a while, all the sensationalism and politicizing that the media has done isn't fair to the majority of their student-athletes that have been doing the right thing.

The law says no means no, but this deal really pushes it. By the "victims" own admission she was not sure if JJ had done anything wrong. It seems he is being held accountable for all the wrongs of the athletic dept over several years. We are talking about a mans life here, not whose politics are right or wrong.

Agreed. It's all one big ugly mess, for all parties involved. :ohno:
