more trouble at Montana

Was watching Good Morning America this morning and they were talking about this. They showed some footage from the opening statements. Johnson's lead attorney is a woman. IMO, very smart. This trial, if Johnson is found guilty could start a domino effect at UM. Gonna be an interesting watch.....

Is this really worthy of national news? It is important to those directly involved but the national news? I don't think so.
Guess this will test the thinking that "any exposure is good exposure".

Reading the tweets from the Victims testimony today are Brutal. The defense will get a chance to present their case in a few days too and I'm sure it will be a different story. Glad I'm not on that Jury....

Two weeks ago I served on a jury for a rape and assault case. This was the 5th jury I've been on and by far the most challenging. It was ugly on so many fronts and really wrestled with the many challenges a case like this presents. Don't want to ever do that again...no winners.

Rape/sexual assault is an ugly crime. Hard to prove, hard to defend and because it so often has little to do with traditional notions sex and attractiveness, it defies the logic that observers and jurors try to attribute to both the alleged perpetrator and victim. Add notoriety and crazed Griz fans to the mix and it's truly a mess.

I was on a murder trail last summer, it was terrible.

Jordan Jefferson's problem is his own issue, Montana isn't in trouble because a kid may/may not have raped someone. The university is in trouble because they tried to sweep it under the rug and hinder the investigation, which shows a serious lack of ethical standards. Penn State set quite an example in this area, and you'd have to think the precedent has been established whereby Montana will get a stiff penalty.

Really, whether the kid is actually guilty is a bit of a sub-story.
