MSU vs WEBER

#1 Big Sky offense against the #1 defense (in conference-only play):

TOTAL OFFENSE G Rush Pass Plays Yards Avg/P TD Avg/G
1. Weber State 2 323 707 146 1030 7.1 11 515.0

TOTAL DEFENSE G Rush Pass Plays Yards Avg/P TD Avg/G
1. Montana State 1 32 73 60 105 1.8 1 105.0

What's the over and under on total yards that the Bobcats will allow the Wildcats? Halfway between 105 and 515 is 310. Will Weber beat that over/under target?

...Wyoming and CSU QB's were hurried at best, at least there was some pressure.....but the one thing I see is that we sorely miss Big Sky Pre-Season All Conference #95 EASTMAN out there. One player does not make the team, but he definitely has a PRESENCE when he is on the field. He gets the rest of the DL in a frenzy....and they feed off each other. The cheap shot at CSU was clearly that, a cheap shot.....that took him out for a few games. You can beat me, but don't cheat me....

Eastman will be back by Sac. State, in time for Montana and others and the play offs. He'll be braced up, but he'll be back with a vengeance. GO WILDCATS

Godspeed the BEAST'S recovery!

Word on the street is that THE BEAST will be seeing limited action on Saturday on 3rd down situations, and will be back 100% against EWU, and that could not get any BETTER. GO WILDCATS!!!

Only the Montanas are allowing less points per game than our defense.

UM 21
MSU 23
WSU 24

And we have played 2 FBS, MSU has played 1, UM has played none.

Did I say inept?? I was just sparking a little more intrest in this thread. MSU's defense is good, and will be ready to play on Sat, but I think our offense has to many weapons. Also, I know they haven't looked great the last couple of weeks, but Weber's defense can be really good. Lets all remember the CSU game and the 3rd quarter in Laramie.

But we've had nothing but injuries this year too...

Good point about schedule! The numbers I posted were for conference-only contests.

.... He didn't have that bad of a game two years ago, he did toss two TDs, if you were a Bobcat fan! Hell, he was MSU's offense two years ago. If he hadn't had played the final score would have been 3-0.

From the WSU press release:

LAST TIME IN OGDEN, UTAH - SEPT. 22, 2007
The “Jimmy Barnes” quarterback experience came to an end. Barnes, a transfer from Alabama who was heralded during Fall camp, was just 1-5 passing and threw two interceptions which were returned for touchdowns as the Bobcats strolled out of Stewart Stadium with a 21-5 victory. ... Both teams got two first quarter possessions in the first five minutes of the game. ... On WSU’s third possession, BARNES was intercepted by CHASE GAZZERRO on the 3rd-and-eight play and returned it 26 yards for a touchdowns. ...

Who was the other QB you tried that day before putting Higgins in late in the game.

As that season went on I was glad that we didnt have to see much of Higgins in our game.

Looking forward to a heck of a battle on Saturday. I always enjoy coming to Ogden.

Watched you guys against ISU on the tube. Rough start on defense, but they got their feet under them, and the offense was consistently good. I think we'll play you tough and beat you, but it won't be a cakewalk. I'd wish you good luck, but, you know .... :)

See ya' Saturday, Wildcats.

I need to reply to the few of you who have said you are going Elk Hunting or staying home to watch general conference. Please get this clear in your head - you need to go out and support your team! Now I am a church member and feel just fine about going to the game (really, I do). General Conference talks will be out in about 1 or 2 weeks after conference and you can watch/listen to those on the internet some nice Saturday afternoon when WSU has a road game or Sunday afternoon after church. You are not breaking the sabbath day by going to a game (last time I checked Sunday is the sabbath). Lots of people have to work on Saturdays and can't watch or listen to conference live and have to rely upon rebroadcasts later on. If you really feel bad about things, how about you record it and watch it Saturday night after the priesthood session? Your job on Saturday is to go out to the game and support your team - you can read the conference reports later on and accomplish two great things instead of just one.

Now for the Elk Hunting - I suggest the following. How about you go out Friday evening and go to your favorite hunting spot and camp there. Get up early Saturday morning and scout out your spot, shoot your Elk at about 8:00 a.m. Get it out and to your house by 11. Clean up and be at the game at 1. You can even come in your hunter orange and nobody will care.

Enough of this "I can't make it to the game because..." Get out and support your team!

GO GET 'EM, WALDO! :!:

Hey, if Mrs. Native and I can come 800 miles for the game, maybe some of the locals can attend, too!

Its official, Im not going elk hunting, I will be at the game, and I wont be wearing my orange, I'll be wearing my WILDCAT PURPLE. Your right Waldo, in times like these, there is nothing more important than supporting our reigning BIG SKY CHAMPS.

GO WILDCATS

100% Agree!! I couldn't have said it any better.

Last year in Bozeman I wore my wool pants and heavy wool camo coat, along with Schnees boots, My hunting cloaths are the warmest cloths I have.

What are we really to expect from MSU? They have played three teams that aren't really that great, but then again, how good are the teams Weber has played? After CSU spotted BYU 21 points the Rams played the Cougars fairly close and tough. If you looked at the statistics you would have thought the game was a lot closer. I think CSU will win 9 or 10 games. I see Wyoming going 5-7, maybe 6-6. ISU...well over half of their yards were in the 1st quarter while our D still thought that just putting on their pads was enough to get a W, or at the end of the 4th when Weber was playing the 3rd and 4th string. That leaves us with PSU. Portland is a good team. Their D is better than it has been and their passing game is among the best in FCS. No matter that game never should have been that close. Two plays within a 12 second span got PSU back into the game. Granted, the D gave up a lot of yards, but pretty much shut them down in the red-zone. If there is one thing I think the Cats D has done really well this years, it has been its abillity to limit opposing teams in the red-zone. Weber's red-zone defense has been good. Special teams needs to be better, but I think the Woods kick return was a fluck.
