Well...lots of excitement right now!! I just can't keep up with all the conversations happening on the board.

Anyway, tonights game is very important. If Weber wants a spot in the post-season tourny they have got to pull off a W tonight in Boozetown.

Who cares. I don't know how I even ended up on the site this morning. Lost interest a month ago. Rahe is getting his A$$ handed to him by JV coaches who make 25% of his pay, & a fraction of his resources. That would be designated as a failure of the season. Nobody's fault but his about striking out on an entire recruiting class 4 years ago. I, like others, fail to see how next year will be dramatically improved.

Can someone please explain to me why it seems one off season for the Wildcats seems to be erasing all the success that Rahe has brought to the program?

I mean seriously, this shit happens with every team. You have ups and downs

I take it you weren't there when Rahe got out coached by MSU & Weber didn't even make it to the title game of the conference tourney on our home floor in '09?

I take it you weren't there when Rahe got out coached by Wayne Tinkle in the 2nd half of the conference tourney title game on OUR home floor again the very next year. I mean seriously, you have Damian Lillard in his 2nd year and your up by 20 at halftime at home. How do you lose the tourney on your home floor 2 years in a row?

No I haven't, I've been here since 2011-12

Was it Twinkle in '10 that exposed Weber's inability to handle a press or is that when Rahe implemented the "play to not lose" strategy instead of playing to win? Five years later they don't get completely paralyzed at the site of pressure but still try to run the clock with the slightest of leads, only to force a bad shot and/or turn it over.

Without Senglin, we don't have a go to guy. We need a guy, when the game is tight, who says; 'give me the ball, I'll do it'. Right now, we just have guys who are too insecure to take that role or really don't have the skill to do it. Maybe someone will step up, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I think that this summers recruiting will be to address that need. Senglin is our guy, but he is out. I don't think we can expect a freshman to take that role, so who is left. Maybe Gittens, maybe Bolomboy, but they just don't seem to have the confidence to do it. A championship team needs at least two of those kind of guys.

This game with MSU will be a little telling. I'm sure they are licking their chops, thinking they have a great chance with WSU coming to town. :coffee:

NEWS FLASH!
It takes time to develop a confident, clutch shooter. We have a better chance of developing Richardson into that. The guys you recruit aren't going to make a big impact for a few years. The type of player you mention isn't going to come in the form of a late Spring signee or a JC kid. Chris Golden was supposed to be what you are describing. I think it has as much to do with our lack of a post game and poor ball movement as it does with having the guy with ice water in his veins. Improving those two things would help everyones confidence.

Montana State took a page out of Nick Robinsons book, :Beating Weber by Beating them Up". It took all we had to hang on at home. Hopefully we can knock down some shots. Is Richardson going to play tonight?

I wasn't talking about just the ability to shoot it in the basket. Probably more important than that is the mental toughness and attitude to want to take charge of a situation. It takes both the skill and the attitude to get the job done.

You are right, we won't sign anyone like that this spring. It will have to come in the summer and those kids can't help us until 2016. Hopefully, with what we have coming back and coming in, next year will be better. Guys in the program right now are going to have to develop into that role. :coffee:

I was/am hoping Gittens can step up and fill the role. At time he shows promise, hopefully he can harness that talent and bring it every night.

OMG.. we have to relive this shit again? Anthony Johnson flashback. Franklin Sessions! Make one foul shot... :ohno:
Regardless we get what we get with Randy. Yes we have had success but we could have had more. Full court pressure, 2-3 zone, playing not to lose, the damn play cards! Its Randy Rahe, you get what you get, nothing more nothing less.

The problem is Gittens is not a shooter at all. He can knock down a sweet jumper and then brick an open 3 point shot from the corner. He doesnt have a pull up and his running floater just isnt falling. He has alot of work to do to be the go to man.

So...we win the game and nobody gives a crap?

OK then...

We should beat MSU they are a terrible team. It was nice to get Richardson back. Joel and James had good games. Joel moves into #2 all time in blocks.

OK. Sounds like a little tough defense in the last minutes saved the game (good on Bolomboy), not that the usual play (not) to lose wasn't there?? Can only hope to be bad boy spoilers now vs. all but the Bengals??

I had them either winning this game or ISU at home and was leaning MSU because Weber's played a little better on the road. Check. I couldn't tell too much of what I thought due to another crappy stream, however, it was great to see Richardson back on the floor and I'm a fan of Hunter at point. I could give a rats-ass-less if he's not a proficient scorer or becomes one. I want a PG that can facilitate an offense, make good passes, make smart decisions, and not be a defensive liability. From what I could tell, he did these things fairly well. I don't think it's a coincidence that they shot the ball well. Hill seemed to do better, Richardson was in the zone. They had 10 assists on 26 makes, they crashed the boards, Hunter had a respectable stat line, and Joel was a monster. Granted it was MSU but having 2 FR, a SO, and 2 JRs on the floor during at least some of crunch time is huge!

Let's see how it looks Sat. I have my hunches, but we'll see.

Hmmm...

Hajek gets starters minutes and nearly gets a double double.

Bolomboy has another outstanding game playing the stretch 4. 2 for 2 from the 3 point line. 12 rebounds.

With starters minutes Hunter has 4 assists.

With starters minutes Richardson has 17 points.

With 14 minutes Golden is an 0-fer, but didn't do the volume shooting he usually does.

With 8 minutes Coston does slightly better than 0-fer.

With a bigger front line in the game we out rebound MSU by a ton.

Hmmmm...

Time for Rahe to go back to his smaller line up! I think he's missing a coach on the bench to tell him when he's being dumb! He's not stong on game day strategy.

Had to stop watching half way through. Couldn't stand the poor stream any longer. But one thing I'm sure of, Golden should never see the floor.

All great points.

We are a better team when Golden is on the bench. I am ready to ship this guy off right now. It is becoming clear that he is one of the factors that have hurt this team.

Hajek played really well and has deserved this level of minutes for a while nice to see him get close to a double, double.

I like the way Joel has taken over. Him playing primarily the 4 is working well.

Hunter - Doesn't have to be the go to shooter, but he has to be able to hit a shot. The final play of the first half you could tell that he didn't want that final shot he was looking around like who else wants this. Plus, your PG is likely the guy to be fouled at the end of close games and you have to make foul shots.

Richardson - is going to benefit the most from Senglin being out and Golden being the foul happy dog house.

I think we had our best rebounding night of the season. We really controlled them on the glass. I think we have a chance for two more wins this season.
