MSU

Unfortunately we have been saying that the last 3 years. We are close but we lose more times than we win. Remember we were close to Drake.

We shouldn't be close to Drake, look at their schedule the last few years. Any non-Pioneer League team completely blows them out. Last year they lost to an NAIA team.

I concur Seattle Eagle as I was sitting here reflecting and thinking we were missing QB, RB, two best wr's after Chism, OT and two dtackles. .....then there's our defense. Tip my hat to every player that suited up and proud how they don't quit in any of these tough-ass games. What a brutal schedule with no cupcakes just ranked teams game after game.
Unfortunately, this is probably the first game I’d say that’s a fair statement. Everyone is hard on the coaches because of how bad things are, but the team played really hard today. They simply got beat by a team with a lot more talent.

It was also the first game I felt we didn’t hemorrhage points due to unforced mistakes on D. Yeah, we still can’t defend the edge. But we didn’t have plays where we were lined up all wrong and miscommunicated coverages or get caught making weird shifts and unprepared for a snap.

One thing abundantly clear to me is we just don’t have the talent we have had. We don’t have a real stud DT like Renard Williams, Pulu, or Tiuli. We don’t have a WR with size that can compete for balls in the air like Kaufman or Limu-Jones. We don’t have a lockdown corner that can live in man coverage like Jesse Hoffman or Josh Lewis.

I was very disappointed with the non-conference performance. The team is playing better during conference play but they deserve to be ranked somewhere in the 6-10 range of Big Sky teams. I have playoff expectations and we aren't really close to being a playoff team. I pulled up the win probability charts for games this season. The final scores have been close but most of the games haven't really been in doubt at half or the start of the 4th quarter.

Monmouth
90.5% EWU Win Probability at Halftime.
99.8% EWU Win Probability at Start of 4th Quarter.

Drake
Couldn't find Win Probability Chart.

SE Louisiana
52.3% SE Louisiana Win Probability at Halftime.
54.9% SE Louisiana Win Probability at Start of 4th Quarter.

Nevada
97.3% Nevada Win Probability at Halftime.
99.9% Nevada Win Probability at Start of 4th Quarter.

Montana
91.9% Montana Win Probability at Halftime.
91.6% Montana Win Probability at Start of 4th Quarter.

Sac State
67.1% Sac State Win Probability at Halftime.
70.7% EWU Win Probability at State of 4th Quarter.

UC Davis
86.9% Davis Win Probability at Halftime.
85.0% Davis Win Probability at Start of 4th Quarter.

Idaho
Couldn't find Win Probability Chart.

Montana State
76.5% Montana State Win Probability at Halftime.
83.3% Montana State Win Probability at Start of 4th Quarter.

We should beat Northern Colorado next Saturday, after that we have maybe a 50/50 shot against a non-playoff team (Idaho State) and a long-shot against a playoff bubble team (NAU).
