National Semifinals vs. Maine Game Day Thread

Looking at Maine's schedule this year, this did not play James Madison (#2 in CAA), Delaware (#3 in CAA) or Stony Brook (#4 in CAA).

Getting these games as a pass is one of those fortunate circumstances for their team. They have made the most of it. Another fortunate event for Maine is an 11 am start (2pm east coast). Who in the BigSky or Eastern athletics thinks this is a good idea? Circadian rhythms are so important and Maine is once again the beneficiary.

Now it's time to Leave No Doubt. Again.

At the end of the game...Maine will be headed to Frisco...
and EWU will be headed back to their locker room...

And if that's not the case I'm sure you won't come back to eat crow, Mainebrother/MaineFootball/Mainefutball.

I think at this point for the four teams left you can throw out all the Stats...as I recall JSU quoted Stats, then weber quoted Stats and look where they ended up. I agree with Mister207 that our QB did not have a good game last week, perhaps it was Weber State, or perhaps it was the high altitude which Maine players were not used to. Either way we won...and at this point I don't see EWU being able to stop our defense with much success. I think your QB is in for a very long day next Saturday...as is your running game...
I just don't think EWU has faced as tough a defense as Maine...but I could be wrong...Our TFL(tackles for losses) was very high at Weber. If our QB does have a good day next Saturday I don't even think this game will be close...

 ;) :)  now you just graduated to clown status. Ask the PAC 12 teams if ewu will cower to booboo the bear. From this time on. I'm going to let the game do all the talking. Ewu has a premier football team and you are about to learn that. I know nothing about your team, but I do know I have watched EWU beat 2 Pac 12 teams almost 4, over the the last several years. Like I said. Your team better be a complete team.
Question, does Main even come close to the speed and athletic ability, and physicality of Washington State? At any position is their any comparison? Thank you, Go eags!

Here is an excellent article about our running game and offensive linemen...

This is a pretty old article. Looks like there are four first year starters on OL. Not sure what I should look at, the 87th ranking in team rushing or the 3.75 yards a carry season average to see how good the running game is... I like your backs, is this an OL issue?

True. But we did beat the #1 team in the Big Sky :D

CO-#1 team in the Big Sky. As have we... twice. :thumb:

You seem like a nice enough dude (unless you have multiple personality disorder and you're Mainebrother and Len east coast Bias on a different device), so I'm not sure why you have so many accounts. As this is the account you use the most, I'm just gonna ban aynt79, jly, Highmaintenace, jimobrien, and mainefootball. Consider this a friendly warning. ;)

After further research, you've created 10 screen names here (mainejeff, maine612, aynt79, jly, Highmaintenace, jimobrien, mainefootball, Mainebrother, Len east coast Bias, Mister207) and pretend to have several different personalities/outlooks on the game between those 10. At least lakesbison is the same consistent douche, and NDSU has other fans. You're the only Maine fan here.

I'll let the people decide whether you stay or go. More fun to watch the remaining 5 screen names I haven't banned petition everyone to let you stay.

Ryan Collingwood paraphrased a tweet from a Maine DB (it has since been deleted by the DB)

Ryan Collingwood Retweeted

.@BlackBearsFB corner Manny Patterson looking ahead to EWU: "Every week we come out and keep dominating these offenses, and make the point known that we are the top dogs. And until they put respect on our name , we're gonna keep doing that." #FCSPlayoffs https://twitter.com/SR_Collingwood/status/1072654402132021248 …

From the multiple personality disorder guy on our board to this tweet; Maine seems to be using the idea of respect as a driver/motivator. At this point in the season teams have earned respect on the football field already. Always concerned when a team mantra becomes borderline dehumanizing. Am able to take a step back and understand the young man's passion.

That said, Eastern's slogan "Leave No Doubt" is about self motivation, stepping up to big challenges and demands nothing from the competitor... It's about acting like we've been there before. Let's Leave No Doubt this Saturday Eags!

EDIT: OK, spent some time after the above post on the Maine board and it actually is all about 'respect' for them... They also seemed to think they had the hardest schedule Maine has had even though they got a pass on JMU, Stony and Delaware who all made the playoffs...

This will be a tough game for both teams I think. I think it will boil down to a couple of plays that make the difference...because I think both teams are somewhat evenly matched on the offensive side of the board. I look forward to it...I have no predictions at this point however. I think both teams are going to be tight starting this game.

In all fairness, Maine has had a very tough schedule.

Only 4 scheduled home games, 1 against preseason #7 New Hampshire (before students were on campus!), and another against Villanova, where students were again gone on fall break.

Back to back road FBS games...

And yet, they still won the CAA!

Granted, JMU, Delaware, and Stony Brook weren’t on the schedule... but, the NCAA has still underrated them, considering their the only CAA team left!

Anyway, very excited for the game.
EW qb looks extremely dynamic and will probably be the best offense they have faced all year...

But...

Maine defense is probably the best defense EW has played all year as well.

What more can we ask for? Nationally televised, heavyweight offense vs heavyweight defense...

Excited to see Maine play on the RED FIELD!

Go Maine!

PS - will be rooting for whoever plays against NDSU

PPS - I promise you I am not a part of the multiple personality disorder 😂

Keep in mind Maine won in Ogden, something EWU didn't do. If you compare the box scores, they are almost identical in terms of total offense. In both games, Weber gave up 270+ yards and gained 270+ yards.

The difference last week was the (4) turnovers that Maine forced. EWU can't turn it over.

Jax State gained 477 yards two weeks ago but turned it over (3) times.

Maine was without their starting QB in a couple of their losses if I'm not mistaken.

Having said that, Vegas currently has EWU as an 11 point favorite. IMHO it will be closer.

Also, sounds like EWU is getting healthier, Custer and Karstetter practiced yesterday per the S-R. I'd breathe a lot easier with Keenan Williams back on the field.

Seriously dude?

You need to chill out.

Let's just use some common sense. Weber made many terrible mistakes last Friday, scored 18, and only lost by 5. The same thing will not happen this Saturday. The Blackbears defense might be the greatest since the '85 Bears, but they are not holding this Eagle offense to 18. Davis has an offense light years ahead of Maine's, but this Eagle D still came up with 3 turnovers and generally held Maier in check. The Blackbears will have to score way more than their season average of 27 to keep up.

To win, Maine will have to play its best game of the season on the road against the #3 seed. It could happen, (and I have seen it more than I'd like) but the weather won't be an issue this year, and this Eagle team has a resolve I haven't seen since 2010.
