Next up, a very good NAU Lumberjack team. They beat Cal Poly last night in a thriller. They're good but we can beat them. :thumb:

What's the QB situation?? Anybody know?

Not sure anybody knows, other than maybe the coaches and trainers, about Rubes status for this week yet. Might have a better idea after they go back to practice tomorrow. Maybe Collins will have an update on his weekly radio show tomorrow night.

From what I have heard, but not confirmed, Berglund is out for the year and will probably be seeking a medical red shirt.

I heard that Berglund had surgery and is out for the year also. I'm fine with Newsom if Rubes is out this week. Newsom is a baller.

Man, I feel bad for Berglund. He can't catch a break. Newsom is good, I'll be fine with him starting against NAU if Rubes can't go. I loved how he outran Montana's entire defense for that score. Play of the year so far.

Very little is known about this new QB... here's the only picture I could find.

Listened to Collins radio show tonight and it sounds to me like Rubes is definitely questionable this Saturday, so you can probably expect Newsom to get his 2nd start. Looking forward to seeing what he can do after getting a week of prep and reps as the #1 QB.

Reed Doughty tweeted that he will be attending the game: "Excited to catch the @unc_bears homecoming game Saturday. First time back to Nottingham field since I laced 'em up for the blue and gold"

Hate to say it but I don't think we can beat them. Saw them play D1 San Diego State and they gave the Aztecs a very good game. I hope we're not on another road to a 1 win season again.

Hopefully our Pop Warner coaching staff will step up and have a good game plan.

If you're picking a winner based on how these teams played against Mountain West schools, you'd pick UNC. We gave UNLV a much better game than NAU gave San Diego State.

Anyone know Rubes's status for the game on Sat? I'm confident in Newsom, but he's not the starter for a reason.

Did not practice last night. So, I would say the odds of Rubes starting this weekend are pretty slim. But maybe he makes a quick recovery over the next couple of days and is available on Saturday.

I'll go with NAU and the win. I just can't see this team beating anyone the way they've looked so far and I hope they prove me wrong, please prove me wrong.

UNC has figure out how to start a game. They seem to fall behind so quickly which allows the other team to play on the balls of their feet and attack.

Get a quick lead and win this damned game!

On down the field we go to victory,
The colors navy blue & gold.
And to our fighting team
we hold our spirit high.
The mighty Bears are we .... GO BEARS!!
Fight, fight to win each battle fairly,
The only way we e'er shall be,
We shout out the name,
To keep the fame and glory to old U-N-C!

I like us winning also. I just watched the Montana game and take away the first quarter, I saw a lot of positives. SO Go BEARS ! (if not, this forum is going to be ugly next week)

Critical game for the Bears and a critical game for the emotional state of the fans, especially on this board. Another blowout and just reading the board next week may melt my monitor.

I'm also going to pick the Bears to get over the hump in this one. It will be close, 24-21 Bears.

Go Bears!
