I didn't mean to imply it was the students fault. If Gonzo really wanted this done, it would have been handled differently. He wants to leave office without being blamed for not getting it done. So he made the students the scapegoats. Both the Comm students and the voting students.

True, he should have forcibly raised the fee last spring.

While students overwhelmingly voted no for the student event center, it will stay on Sac State’s master plan, according to Pam Stewart, chair of The University Foundation at Sac State in a press release.
“As we look to the future, the University Foundation stands ready to provide long-term fundraising support for student scholarships, academic programs and capital projects, including a state-of-the-art Event Center that will serve our students and strengthen the campus connection with the Sacramento region,” said Stewart.

Not that the above means a whole lot, but it's possible the new president keeps the events center a high priority. If a president with a good track record of fundraising is hired who knows what might get done.
