Maybe compliance can chime in here with additional information. I have heard, in the past, that if a walk on uses a second year of eligibility, they must be counted as part of your scholarship total, if they are on a grant or not. That is why you almost never see them for a third year, unless they have actually earned an athletic scholarship. Usually, we see a red shirt year first, a second year if they show potential, and then they either earn a spot or are gone the next year. At least, that is how it was in the past. Things may have changed.
Walk on players have made the team over the years. Sometimes, kids are just late bloomers. You never know what might be within their ability or in their hearts. I wish them all the best. :thumb:
