New Cornerback - Rashad Wadood

A quick search says that about Ronnie Hamlin, too...

A better search shows that Wadood suffered from a torn ACL, which can happen to anyone.

This kid is going to help immensely.

Agree. There's a difference between missing time from "nagging" injuries and catastrophic injuries.

I saw him play in Vegas on Keyshawn Johnson's 7 on 7 team. He was fantastic coming out of high school.

Good to have more talent at any position, that raises the bar for everyone. I would not say it is a given that he would be a starter. We have a lot of young talent on the corners.

Wonder what happened in Tempe, sounds like he was showing a lot of promise at ASU.

If the indications in these articles are correct, Rashad is a really good get for the Eagles.
59 days to gameday!!

I figured Eastern was looking at trying to land a CB transfer. Hope this kid is in shape and ready to go. Hopefully, he can step right in and make an impact.

Curious, what year is he? The 2012 ASU prospectus lists him as a Sophomore. Yet the 2014 article also list him as a soph. My guess is a Junior with no redshirt remaining?

AZ Family - "Saturday represented the latest in a string of strong spring showings by Wadood, now a redshirt junior. Wadood has been running with the starting defense throughout the spring's first three weeks, often locking up with standout receiver Jaelen Strong."

I was also wondering if the coaches were looking to get some help at CB. Should be a good pickup if he works out. Welcome Rashad.

I've been digging. Trying to figure out why Wadood, a player who was the projected starter at his position, would transfer. The most I can find is this statement:

Wadood releases the following statement via Facebook: "I have never failed a drug test, missed a workout, showed up late, been suspended, been in any academic trouble and Ive also earned the scholar baller academic award. So no, I was not forced to leave ASU, I chose to leave. To clear that up."

Apparently him and Vernon Adams are friends, so that may have effected choosing Eastern over other schools. He is being touted as the hottest transfer this season. More information about his performance as cornerback can be found here:

This probably locks up the boundary CB spot, which is great. I still have some serious concerns on the defensive line.

White at the other cb?

I don't know enough about White or the other cb's competing, to be honest. I know he was a prop this year, but above that I don't know anything about him including whether or not he'll actually be eligible.

Potentials CB's for 2014, doesn't include incoming Freshman:

36 Isaac Anderson DB 5-8 175 So. SQ* Prosser, Wash. / Prosser HS '12 / -
37 Frank Cange DB 5-9 170 Jr. 1L* Renton, Wash. / Lindbergh HS '10 / -
27 Victor Gamboa DB 6-0 180 Fr. HS* Tacoma, Wash. / Washington HS '13 / -
17 Jake Hoffman DB 6-0 170 Fr. HS* Spokane, Wash. / North Central HS '13 / -
16 Brandon Jimerson DB 6-1 180 Fr. HS* Seattle, Wash. / Garfield HS '11 / -
*41 Eric Orth DB 6-0 180 Jr. JC* Stockton, Calif. / St. Mary's HS '10 & San Joaquin Delta JC) / -
*Joe Njoku DB 5-9 200 So. TR* Tacoma, Wash. / Lakes HS (Washington State) / -
33 Moe Roberts DB 5-10 180 Fr. HS* Cashmere, Wash. / Cashmere HS '13 / -
18 D'londo Tucker DB 6-0 170 So. 1L Federal Way, Wash. / Federal Way HS '13 / -
29 Diamonte Wiggins DB 6-3 185 So. SQ* Compton, Calif. / Lynwood HS '12 / -
*13 Wadood, Rashad CB 5-11 181 RJr. Long Beach, Calif. (Lakewood)

*=Transfer

Lots of new names on that list, and actually, I'm not sure which of the new players are looked at as CB's or Safeties. Just taking a stab, my bet would be Wadood at one corner spot and D'londo Tucker starting at the other with some sort of rotation going on there. White could totally be the real deal, but I'm not sure if I'd project a player that's never seen the field as a starting CB. Tucker saw quite a but of actions behind Baines last year.

Wow, we are much deeper at secondary than I had originally thought. I agree with D'londo Tucker getting the nod. I thought he showed a lot of potential on the field. That being said, there could always be a freshman who redshirted who comes in to shake things up.

Who is White? I am not familiar with this player.

He was a Prop 48 last year, originally signee from the 2012 class.
