Wow. What an interview.
He talked a lot about support groups for success. Said if you don't have the support in place, it won't work. Brought up the fact that PSU needs to play two D1A (BCS) games per year and that should be in state money such as OSU/UO. Why have OSU pay Eastern Washington when we should keep the money in state.
He likes PGE Park. Said it reminds him of a place like Green Bay. Indicated that he'd hit the local businesses to sell season tickets to get people to go to the games.
He called out Montana multiple times and said that "we" are going after them. I think I have goosebumps.

I'm so EXCITED to have this guy as our head coach! Let's hope the committee can show him the support he will need to take this job. He's going to bring the kind of excitement we need to PSU. He also wants to have Portland embrace PSU as its school, and identify with it. Glanville for Head Coach.

Sounds like a fantastic interview. The fact that the FAN guys were on board is especially encouraging.
Wow from what I have read on the board I wish I would have been on the board earlier to realize the fan was interviewing him. Thanks DJ Viking for providing notes for us who missed the interview. The comment Mouse made gave me goose bumps!!! I'm sorry for the other candidates but they are no way on the level that JG and Mouse Davis would provide not only to the Athletic program but to the institution itself!! If the academic beings don't realized what this opportunity can bring to them and to their programs then they are stuck in the 50's and need to reconsider what being an educator is about.

Jerry Glanville may be leaving his tickets for Elvis Presley at PGE Park this fall.
The former NFL head coach and current defensive coordinator at University of Hawaii interviews Monday for the Portland State job, and indications are he will be offered it.
"There's a good chance," said a person close to the PSU search committee. "The program needs a shot in the arm. (His hiring) would create a buzz. Jerry could get it jump-started for at least two or three years, then turn it over to someone else."
That's because Glanville turns 66 in October. Of course, that makes him a mere kid compared with Mouse Davis, 74, the former PSU head coach who was also an assistant Hawaii last season and would serve as Glanville's offensive coordinator if he were to get the job.
For the last two seasons, as Glanville as served as a member of June Jones' Hawaii staff, his wife, Brenda, remained at her home in Georgia.
"Jerry will take (the Portland State position) if they offer it to him, as long as Brenda decides Portland is right for her," Davis said Saturday from his home in Honolulu. "I think she'll fall in love with the place. Portland is her kind of place. She likes wide open spaces, and there is plenty of that out and around Portland. I can see her becoming enthralled."
Tim Walsh, who left Portland State last week to accept the offensive coordinator job at Army, made $130,000 last season, not exactly NFL money.
"Jerry doesn't need any money," Davis said. "He made millions in television."
Glanville served as head coach of the Houston Oilers from 1985-89 and the Atlanta Falcons from 1990-93. For most of the next decade, he was an NFL analyst on HBO, CBS and Fox. His last collegiate coaching stint was from 1968-73 when he was defensive ends and linebackers coach at Georgia Tech.
The black-clad Glanville (in honor of Johnny Cash) presided over the "Gritz Blitz' in Atlanta and the "House of Pain" with Houston as defensive coordinator with both NFL franchises. During his time in the NFL, he became famous for leaving game tickets at will-call for the late Presley.
The yearn to coach evidently never left Glanville. He grew bored with the TV booth and, before going to Hawaii in 2005, Glanville was prepared to accept the head coaching position at Northern State, a Division II school in Aberdeen, S.D. Jones had been his offensive coordinator with the Falcons.
“Jerry would go real well in Portland," Davis said. "People would love him. He's a hell of a guy, a smart guy, a crazy sucker. He'd bring some juice in there. His teams play defense. That's his whole deal."
Davis' deal is offense in general, specifically the run-and-shoot. He became legendary with his wide-open passing offense that rolled up yardage and points in record numbers as head coach of the Vikings from 1975-80.
"It'd be fun to come back," Davis said. "We'd get that thing rolling. I have no idea the talent or who the kids are at Portland State, but I know the availability of that kind of talent."
The other finalist being interviewed is Greg Lupfer, a former all-conference linebacker at Portland State who coached under Walsh for 12 seasons, the last seven as defensive coordinator. Lupfer is popular with his players, many of whom would like to see him be elevated into the head job.
The source close to the search committee said one scenario would be for Lupfer, 36, to stay on as defensive coordinator under Glanville. Davis said if Glanville is hired, he would interview all the assistants under Walsh before forming his staff.
"If that were to happen, it would be a hell of a deal for Lupfer," Davis said. "The kid would learn a lot of defensive football."

In my opinion its very simple....Portland State How Good Do You Want To Be? That question will be answered within the next 48 hrs. If Glanville takes the job, that shows that the administration is going to support athletics. If he doesnt take the job, it shows there lack of support. It's that simple.
Anyone that listened to the radio last night heard a man that wanted the job. We then listened to about 100 people calling in saying the would support $ wise and attendance wise.
