"apathy" was the word of the day during Drummond's tenure. before that there was the other idiot who invested all that money in the Spokane campus. i am just hoping this woman doesn't totally destroy athletics.

My trip to EWU FB Camp yesterday reveals we had approximately 1,000 Players attending from all over WA State, Idaho. Roos Field, Student Activity Fields, and Old Practice Field (Grass Field) were all utilized. Our Players were assisting in the Camps. Saw Vernon Adams, Cody McCarthy, Zach Wimberly, Zach Bruce. Of course other Players were assisting. We got there about 3:30 pm. Saw Schools like Walla Walla High, Monroe High, Cheney High, West Valley High (Spo), and other schools. 21st is supposed to be last day of Camps. Coach Baldwin stated the 1st day of practice for our team will be July 31st, @ 09:00hrs. p.s. My next door Neighbor, who is a Retired Pharmacist told me today he will be attending August 23rd Game against SHU @ Roos Field, and he stated he know we will have another Great year. Summer starts officially 03:51am this morning and is going to have some great weather, supposedly as much as 88 degrees some days. Take care. Vic Wallace

I think football is ingrained enough now in the Eastern culture that it will be a factor moving forward. I think, and hope, the new president will be open to using the football program as a gateway to selling other great university features. Beyond that, I think the local community makes enough $$$ off football to insist that the success of the program is integral for Cheney as a whole.

I completely disagree with you about Dr. Jordan, and in fact give him much of the credit for saving Eastern and keeping it from becoming WSU Cheney. When Dr. Jordan took over enrollment had dropped to around 7,000 and things were very bleak; he changed all that. It was during Dr. Jordan's term that EWU athletics really began to shine with success in football, men's basketball and great volleyball teams to boot. Dorms started filling up (including renovating and reopening Louise Anderson Hall), buildings were being renovated and built, and the ground work was laid down for what we see currently at EWU.
I'm sure Dr. Jordan had his faults, but he was far, far, far from "outright terrible."

At the very least, she'll continue where Dr. A left off. There's a better chance she'll use this opportunity to move the University forward faster.
