Next Seasons Schedule

Who will play in the Bracket Buster? Regular season champ or tournament champ? How is that decided?

I'm really not sure. Its kinda funny but Weber hasn't had a bracketbuster game since 04. MSU and PSU have had a lot of them. I think its a great way to get some exposure for the program, players, and the school.

doesnt matter unless your on espn; only a few of the games are even on tv. i dont see any reason to care to be in a bracketbuster.

i hope we play unlv again in vegas; that was a way fun trip and we had a chance to win.
unlv was a legit home crowd; they had 16,000 at our game and it was a december OOC game; byu, utah, usu could never get a crowd like that.

Here's a good guess if we have a similar schedule to 2010. The only diff is i didnt put USU on the list twice so its one less game, 27 total instead of 28.

Ugh, enough with the weak schedules, WSU. We're not going to impress any recruits/media/tournament committee playing against the likes of Montana Tech, Western State, Seattle, etc... I would love to see this program get serious, and stop being satisfied by being 2nd best in the Sky. To build a perennially strong program like Butler, Mount St. Mary, Northern Iowa, etc..., we have to play great teams in the preseason annually. Scheduling poor competition started with the Cravens era to boost Wins (and coach perception), and has continued. I'm hoping Randy sees this as an area of opportunity to be explored. I'd take a close loss to a Top 25 team over a win to Montana Tech any day. In the preseason play, it's all about the experience, not meaningless wins against D-II schools.

I agree, I would rather play, teams around our area, such as, Denver, Boise st, Utah Valley, Suu, UNLV, Wyoming, or some of the Cal teams, no Div2 , No montana tech next year please ... Seattle I like, Cal Northridge, Cal Poly, UC Irvin and so forth... with a Holiday invite too Maui or Hawaii tournments...

i dont know if we are allowed back to hawaii, i think we were supposed to be a cupcake win and we won the tourney (2002) by dispatching colorado state, louisana state and wisconsin on 3 consecutive nights. what a tourney that was for us!

Oh and Former_Wildcat, welcome to the board!

D-2 teams are not going to pack the Dee either. If SUU can get UNLV to come play at their place we should be able to get better teams into the Dee too. Even if you have to do a 2 for 1.

Welcome to the board Former_Wildcat!!

I agree with you and the other posters. I'd love to see the Purple Palace hosting bigger name schools and proven talent. Those teams would get more butts in the seats, and be a great showcase for Weber's program.

However, their is a definite problem. Those schools know that the Purple Palace is a very difficult place to win at. Also, they know that Weber isn't an automatic W, even at their place. So, a lot of teams refuse to play us. Weber's best chance to play the bigger programs is in preseason or post-season tournaments. Thats why the NIT is so important for Weber. A good showing will only help build the program. It might not be the type of showplace that the players may have wanted, but hell, they are playing a Big East school on ESPN...why not pull off a huge W and see how long they can dance this year in the NIT. Thats how a lot of the recent Mid-major powers have built their program. They win the timely, marketed, games. Exposure does a hell of a lot for a program.

Agreed with the thread here.....and to tag onto Tad's point: The bottom line is we have to give up home games. Despite last week, credible non-conference schools understand the risk of playing at the Dee. I'd give up Montana Tech and Western State for games at Illinois and New Mexico any day. Just ask coach Mac.....we never get into last season's playoffs if we don't have Wyoming and CSU on the schedule.

I think Weber deserves to have big names come into the Dee, teams like Gonzaga, N.Mexico, UNLV why not Nevada? yeah I dont want to see Mt Tech or Montana Western on our schedule again, a team not wanting to come to Weber for fear of losing is chicken S**T on that teams part, If you think your good prove it. Those teams are NOT too good to play in Ogden, they need to grow some. that goes for you to Stew Morril.

Stew comes to Ogden every other year...did you miss the first game of the season?

That wasnt my point, Utah State lives at home every season, while we are on the road playing at Illinois, N.Mexico, Arizona, San Diego State, Southern Miss, etc. Utah State is cusioning thier record with constant home games aginst teams like Utah Valley, Cal Poly, Cal St whatever every year, this year they had 10 ooc home games, 4 road games, its like that every year, the point of my That goes for you to Stew comment was Utah State will not play anybody good (out of state) on the road, can anybody tell me the last time USU went to Gonzaga or Illinois or Arizona or N.Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV or anybody for that matter? THAT was my point. Im not anti Utah State, but I am anti Stew Morril.

And the only reason Im sure that USU played here was because it was our turn to host. Bet they dont return the home game with BYU.

I hate em, Bastards. I wish we had them at Weber next season as I think they will be a disaster with no one running the point, first year in many with no Carroll or Quayle. Anyone else looking forward to stomping Byu in Ogden next year. 8-)

they got an auto bid this year which makes this argument moot. they played better schools this year both home and away than the last few yrs even if it wasnt overly impressive. they did what was needed.

im all for us to have some better teams on the schedule if anyone will actually come to the dee. i just dont want to see us going the ISU route and getting #10 Wazzu to Poca which was cool but to do a 3 for 1 for that? I don't think so.
