Next Seasons Starting 5

Our coaches do not share information on who is or isn't on scholarship. They like to keep opposing coaches guessing as well us meddling fans. With that said, I do believe that all of them are now taken. We may still take in a transfer like Gallegos. Quite often thse transfers are not on an athletic scholarship right out of the gate. They often can get other assistance or simply attend school and pay for it like any other student would. When not on an athletic scholarship, they can work all they want and if they are local, can live with family. They are, often, better off than if they were on an athletic scholarship. They don't have as many restrictions.

Now that our coaches and their program are well established, they can go deeper into the youth talent pool during the summer, player evaluation periods. I expect our recruiting will only get better. Momentum is a beautiful thing and we seem to have it right now.

After watching Weber State basketball the last 40 years, I believe this may be the best match-up size team Weber State has ever had,.. the greatest leaper had to have been, Sessions Harlen could touch top of square flat footed at 6'0... Best big man, 6'8' Sojourner, however my favorite was Shawn Campbell 7'1".. greatest shooter was Todd Harper 6'4"... most exciting was Bruce Collins 6'5" from Wyoming...anyway here is my guess for next years starting 5.....

Lillard 6'2", Bamforth 6'2", Bull 6'6", Morris 6'9", and Fulton 6'7"...

Second five,..

Richardson 6'0", Hughey 6'3", Davis 6'6", Tresnak 6'10", and Mahoney 6'8"..

third five..

Noble 6'2", Porter 6'3", Gallegos 6'3" rs, Hajek 6'10", and Washington 6'7'...

Most athletic team Coach Rahe has assembled...outside shooting and size for rebounding lots of length and size for defense.. long arms... and strength inside...power players with speed. bring on football because basketball is right after....

We're not done signing yet.

Is there going to be more than Gallegos?

I'm really excited to watch what happens this summer. Weber is looking at some total studs right now. Woods, Taylor, and Baker all could end up starting as Freshman.

I agree, however, We know that Coach Rahe can recruit guards and wings, it's the bigs he's recruiting this summer that has me excited....

Jonathon Holmes 6'8" San Antonio tx. Brendan Keane 6'10" California 6'10 Kevin Jurgensmer Idaho....

I know that Washington will NOT be on scholarship next year. He will be on the team, and arrangements have been made for financial aid. I am not sure if Noble will be on scholarship or not, but he will be returning to the team. :ugeek:

Washington is going to graduate next December, which is awesome for him, but also is pretty easy for the coaches to use his scholarship elsewhere.

You all know me...I'm the biggest Bull at the 3 fan on this site, however, after last years debates I think i finally saw the light and realized that Rahe isn't going to be moving Bull anytime soon. If he plays, for that matter, if he starts at the 3 I will be beyond shocked. He will continue to be at the 4.

My opinion on the starting 5:
1. Lillard
2. Hughey
3. Bamforth
4. Bull
5. Morris
First in: Bigs; Mahoney, Tresnak, and Fulton. Guards: Richardson and Noble

Tal;

Rahe has already said that the plan is for Bull to play the 3 spot. He told me that if Fulton couldn't win the 4 spot that Davis and Mahoney would split time at 4. You may also see Morris and Tresnak on the floor together from time to time. At one point they thought maybe Bull couldn't hang with the faster, more athletic 3s. However, when Sessions was in the doghouse and they had to use Bull at the 3 against Cinci, they were impressed with how he handled guarding their best player. The coaches are also impressed with Bamforth. He and Hughey will battle it out for the starting 2 guard spot. Bamforth may also see some time at the 3, especially until BJ Porter comes on board in December. Also playing 2/3 is Josh Noble. A really interesting aspect of all this is where Jordan Richardson fits into the rotation. I know that they like him a lot, and believe he will be the point guard of the future or at least a very good 2 guard, so they will either try to get him on the floor as much as possible or redshirt him. He may be too good to redshirt. Every year, under Rahe, we have become more athletic and deeper. Because of the depth, we may see more preshure defense than we have in the past. We may try harder to wear teams downand run a bit more.

I stand corrected!! Thats great news. I thought Bull played a good game against Cincy too. Because he is a senior I'm sure Hughey will be the starter. He is such a tough, hard working, kid that I doubt anyone could get that position from him. I really like Hughey. I'm glad we have him. Also, Noble, even though I don't think he will see a lot of mins, is a good guy to have on the bench. He knows the offense and is always ready to come on the floor and play.

6th man, Hughey of course will play a huge role this year. I think we will see a lot of
Lillard- Bamforth- and Hughey on the floor together. All 3 can play the point, and Hughey and Bamforth can play the wing.

LILLARD could play all the positions. Maybe not the Center, but... LOOOOOL
