North Dakota (why can't we fire our staff as well? thread)

I guess Wyoming, Weber State, North Dakota and others have no patience ! Myself, if in a losing culture , I am going to be pro active ! That's just me
Agreed. But changing coaches now is more reactive than proactive.

This Kid named Corey Harrison from Jacksonville Arkansas Plays OG but will probably play DT in college should Definitely get a Look from UNC HUDL: , : guard/ Guard/Center, 6"3 330 Corey Harrison DT/OG #73 : http://www.hudl.com/athlete/500631/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Why are you spamming message boards for this kid?
You have posted this on the Eastern Washington, Montana and Montana State boards as well. :tothehand:

So the difference seems to be that Coach Weiss had the credentials, experience, and resume in place ! I got it now !
My point is that even with the credentials those guys have, turning a losing program around is a LONG, up hill battle. Before you can win, you have to stop losing. Not sure who said it, but it makes alot of sense.

So how long does a new coach get? Downing got 56 games. Does every new coach deserve 5 years to turn it around? I don't want another 3 years of 1-3 wins a season.

That's the $64 question isn't it. As a fan its hard to watch a team lose, especially if they lose consistantly. I beleive that Coach Collins and his staff are moving the program in a positive direction. The wins/losses column may not reflect that, but wins are not going to come quickly or easily. The seniors that just played there last game as Bears, never had a winning season, under Collins or Downing. Collins inherited a losing program with a losing culture. He and his staff are taking the steps necessary to change that culture. How long will it take to start winning? Again, that's another $64 question. Even if Collins were replaced tomorrow, the culture of the team will not change instantly with a new coach. It would be a LONG, up hill battle for them as well. As fans, we need (have) to be patient.

You're an idiot, just like the rest of this staff and program. This hasn't been a loosing culture until this staff arrived and in 3 years you losers have managed to loose more than Downings last 3 years! Talk about a loosing culture, thats called going backwards! Common sense ain't too common for you and your friends, "ignorance is bliss" should be on the back of the coaches shirts this year! Bottom line is they're are scared to fire this guy and that guy is scared to hire a better staff! good luck! Talk to y'all when they hire a real staff.

Having had experience at every level of this game the one thing I can point to from experience is that in order for a HC to be successful, it is critical for a HC to have his players to both "like" and "respect" him. This extends to how his staff feels about him as well. The higher the level of play, the more the pendulum swings in favor of the respect side. But make no mistake, both items are important in order for a coach to get his team to (1) play together as a unit and (2) buy into the program.

Unfortunately Collins falls short in both of these areas. The core of his team does not particularly like or respect him. One can point to the fact that by all accounts, the team that took the field this year was a "better" more "experienced" team than the one that ended the 2012 season yet not only posted a worse record in the win/loss column but also fell short of picking up where they left off after the 2012 campaign.

So the question is why did this happen? The answer can be found in the inability of this HC and corresponding staff to take the program to the next level. Unless there are some MAJOR changes in the way the program is run either by this staff or another one, there is no way it can be said this program is moving forward!

The definition of insanity is to keep doing things the same way with the expectation of a different result. My suggestion to this board and the fans of UNC football is to not be crazy! Demand change in one way or another or expect a continued decline. :ohno:

I totally agree with you and have already put a bug in the new AD's ear and hope a lot of other people do to ! Let's not settle for mediocrity people and we are not even at the mediocrity level !

Klonkikebear and Playerparent are obviously a firm in their opinions. Fortunately they can't hire, fire, recruit or coach on behalf of UNC. Klondikebear is bitter because he is tired of watching his team lose. Playerparent acts as if his son is not getting playing time. They both are negative towards the program every chance they get which helps nothing. This is supposed to be a fan forum. Not a whining forum. If you are a UNC fan you should support the program. Not complain, call names and point figures like little kids. I am a fan. I support the new AD, Coach Collins, and the rest of the programs. That's what fans do. Like I said before, fans don't hire, fire, recruit or coach. We watch. Plain and simple. We all have opinions. Yours or mine however have no real impact on the program. I suggest that you either support the program, or find a new one.

I disagree. Fans vote for or against a program every time they attend (or don't attend) a game or every time they donate money. UNC is not like the insane Nebraska boosters that have more power than any fan group should but at some point fans have enough with the direction of the team. It doesn't mean they don't root for UNC and hurt when they lose.

I think fans have to have a place to vent and this place makes as much sense as any as a place to vent. Hell, there is even someone in the basketball forum that wants Hill fired. It seems insane to me but to each their own.

I agree Brian ! McCandyman, you are pissing me off. I and many others on here support this program more than you will ever know! This forum is a great place for fans to have some fun and lively discussions! Don't try to stop people from voicing their concerns. Thank goodness there are a bunch of fans talking on here . It shows we all give a crap about our Team. ! Go Bears

Now that I've got everyone else pissed off, hopefully you can see what it's like to have someone say some crap that you don't agree with. Beardevil39, I'm glad I pissed you off. I get pissed off too when I here some of the feeble mined rants on this forum. My opinion may be different than yours, but it doesn't mean that it is wrong. Your opinion is equally valuable, but I have the right to speak up if I disagree, just as you do when you disagree with me. I just wish there were more positive posts on this forum. Bottom line, I support the program too. I guess at the end of the day, we both just wants what is best for program.

WHAT!!?? My god you would be a supporter of this train wreck. This is probably the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board. I can't imagine what your affiliation is with this staff and as a matter of fact I truly do not wish to know. It's like getting mad at handicapped kids for not figuring out they're handicapped. It's sad and awkward for everyone really. But I'll be supportive cause it's not nice to make fun of retards. Go Bears.

Klondikebear - Again with the name calling. What are you, 12 years old. "Retard", really, thats the best you could come up with. Aren't you man enough to agree to disagree? Get back to your video games and check back in when you grow up. :coffee:

LMAO !! This is funny shit! Lets keep the dialogue going !

There are examples of coaches out there that have done this poorly in their third year and ultimatly turned things around but unfortunatly for every one of those there are a dozen that never got better.

I just hate to lose another season while this new AD figures out this guy aint getting it done.

I just see no reason at all to expect anything but terrible next season, there wasn't even a glimmer of hope this year to indicate that. This team packed it up and quit after the Pueblo game. At least under Downing we were underfuned in scholarships and you could argue that we were building out of the transition but that's no longer the case.

Of the programs that have moved up with or after UNC who has done the worst, UC Davis, NDSU, SDSU, SD, ND, Central Arkansas.... the answer is obvious...

That's funny that there's a "sandwich artist" applying for the job. I think he might be better at X's and O's than Collins. I hope the Sue don't hire him.

I have also been told that Coach Shay is no longer a member of the coaching staff. Do not know if he was fired or resigned.
